this is a request for @RosiesPhatAss and it's set in australia because (y/n) is in the military :)

today is one of the most exciting days of my life. for the past two years i have been in the military and today i finally get to go home. it's been hard to be away from my family and my fiancée for so long but i have no regrets about what i chose to do. i had a great time and i'll cherish my experiences for years, but now it's time to be with rosie again. i want to finally marry her, to start a family with her, just be with her for the rest of my life. i haven't been able to see her since i left, having been so busy, so i can't wait to see her.

pulling up to the base where our families are waiting, i can feel my heart in my throat. i haven't seen rosie and my family yet and it's so nerve-wracking. i hope they're here and that they'll be happy to see me again.

seeing as i'm sitting near the back of the bus i'm one of the last to get off and therefore everyone else is already with their families. i have to push through happy reunited families until i finally see my beautiful fiancée a few feet away from me. we make eye contact and tears immediately form in my eyes when i see her burst out crying. i barely have time to drop my bags before she comes running at me and jumps into my arms.

"oh my god, (y/n)," she sobs. "oh my god, i've missed you so much."

"i've missed you, too, baby," i reply, burying my face in her hair.

"i'm so glad you're back. thank you for coming back."

"i'll always come back to you, i love you so much."

"i love you, too."

i gently place her down on the ground so i can take a good look at her face, her beautiful face, then cup her cheeks in my hands and pull her in for a kiss. i try to keep it pg as we're out in public but it's so difficult after not being able to kiss her for years.

"okay, we've missed you, too," my mum teases, making me giggle into rosie's lips. i eventually, reluctantly, pull away from her and run over to hug my parents as well.

"it's so great to see you again," i whisper, wrapping my arms around both of them.

"we're glad you're back, honey," my mum says.

"no more going off for two years so we can't see you again," my dad adds. i laugh as i pull back and it fades into a soft grin when rosie wraps her arms around me again. my mum smiles as she looks between both of us then winks at me.

"we're all going to go out for dinner tonight but seeing as we have a few hours until then..." she trails off, a teasing lilt in her voice. it takes a few seconds for me to understand what she's hinting at but when i do, my face scrunches up in disgust.

"mum," i whine.

"i'm just saying! you two need to take some time alone." she raises her hands innocently but she's being anything but that. as much as she's telling the truth, talking about sex with my mum is not something i enjoy.

"okay, we're leaving, goodbye!" i take one of rosie's hands in mine and tug her away to her car, blush deepening when i hear my parents laughing behind us.

once we're in the car, i bury my face in my hands in mortification and rosie giggles at me.

"you're adorable," she says.
