i know a lot of you don't like ones with kids but i think they're cute so i want to write this anyway :D

i'll get back to requests soon, i promise :) i still have them all!

coming home from work, i'm taken aback to see a little girl sitting on my doorstep. i'm certain i've never seen this girl before so how did she end up in front of my house all alone? she can't be more than 5 years old, where are her parents?

carefully and quietly i approach her, giving her a friendly smile when she looks up at me.

"hi there," i say softly. "what's your name?"

"minji," the girl replies.

"where are your mommy and daddy, minji?"

"i don't have a daddy and i can't find my mommy."

she looks so sad when she says that it makes my heart ache. i need to find a way to help this poor girl get back to her mom.

"okay," i say, racking my brain to think of what to do next. "what's your mommy's name, sweetheart? maybe i can help you find her."

"i-i don't know," she says, bottom lip beginning to quiver as tears fill her eyes. i panic at the sight and reach out to stroke her hair.

"it's okay, sweetie. what's your last name?"

"park."

that's something at least.

"how did you lose your mommy? did you walk away from her?"

"sh-she didn't come to get me f-from school s-so i walked home a-alone and i g-got lost," minji whimpers, making my heart shatter even more. it's then i realize that she has a backpack with her and it hits me that there might be contact information inside it somewhere.

"can i look in your backpack, minji?" i ask. she nods so i slide it off her shoulders and open the front pocket to take a peek inside. i see a little card purse inside so i pick it up and am immediately filled with relief when i see one with minji's mom's information. it's always helpful when parents are prepared for things like this.

"okay, i found your mommy's phone number so i'm going to give her a call so she can come and pick you up," i tell minji. she nods again, shuffling a little closer to me as i plug her mom's number into my phone. i wrap my arm around her waist, smiling just a little when she nuzzles into my side. the phone rings a couple of times but finally someone picks it up and a frantic female voice comes through.

"hello?" she asks.

"hi, is this park chaeyoung?" i ask.

"yes, who is this?"

"my name is (y/n). i came home from work today and found your daughter minji sitting on my doorstep. she said she got lost on the way home from school and ended up at my house."

"oh my god," chaeyoung says, sighing out a breath of pure relief. "thank you so much, i'll come and get her right away."

i give her my address and within five minutes of hanging up the phone a young woman comes running down the street towards us.

"mommy!" minji cries, jumping up and running down to meet the woman.

"minji, thank god you're okay," she says as she drops down to catch the little girl. "don't ever just leave without telling anyone where you're going, okay? we were all so worried about you. you're very lucky that this nice woman was here to help you."

"i'm sorry mommy, i won't do it again, i promise." chaeyoung just presses a long kiss on minji's forehead before picking her up and turning to look at me. i'm immediately struck with how beautiful she is but i force myself to push those thoughts away because of the severity of the situation.
