You arrived at a fiery scene just in time to see a certain burning hero combust the head of another figure.
The fiery scene being the streets with fire everywhere, the certain burning hero being Endeavor who technically was not burning, and the other figure being a Nomu.
You stood in shock at the sight. Endeavor should have been told that those Nomu were humans once. Did he or the other authorities not consider it possible to bring them back to normal?
Not that it was, you considered. A single human being injected with quirks would be difficult to revert. But it wasn't like you knew the exact details of Katsumi and the doctor's work.
But still. That sadistic look in his eyes as he incinerated that head disgusted you.
You looked around, not sure exactly what you were looking for. You started looking up at the buildings and searched for the highest ones. If Tomura was around, he would be here to watch the destruction.
Like most children, and adults, explosions were fun to watch, mainly in fictional games. But you knew Tomura. He treated life as a game.
You glanced between looking up at buildings and looking at where you were going. Heroes directed you away from the danger, telling you to stay away and take care of where you were going and that everything was going to be fine.
Of course, that wasn't what you were worried about.
Suddenly, a glimpse of red and white caught your eye. What was Todoroki doing here? Did Endeavor bring him along? He seemed to be in a rush.
You followed him, curious as to where he was going. Did he spot where Tomura was?
You found your answer a few blocks later, you trailing not too far behind him without him noticing. Yells of panic and surprise came from down an alleyway. You took a peek at what was going on and saw Todoroki there along with Midoriya, Iida, the hero killer Stain, and a hero you faintly remember as Native.
The people already there before Todoroki all seemed injured and unable to move except for Stain. Todoroki had came just in time to save Midoriya from him, quickly creating an ice formation that worked as both a barrier and a weapon due to the speed at which it came towards the villain, as well as a burst of fire above it equally dangerous.
As you quickly examined the scene from a good distance away, you noticed that Midoriya didn't have any large visible injuries, only that he was on the ground, eyes wide and eyebrows furrowed, a frustrated expression.
There was a small pool of blood under Iida's shoulder, but that wouldn't stop him from getting up. Stain's quirk or his weapons must involve some kind of paralysis.
In the next second, Todoroki used his ice to bring all three victims behind him, standing protectively in front of them and on guard, his left side flaming. You heard him yell out that backup would soon arrive.
You debated on what you should do. You had to go in to help them. In and out.
Either leave the injured and hope the paralysis would wear off quickly, and help Todoroki take down Stain.
Or, grab the victims and get them out of the alleyway. First Native, who was the most injured, and alert Iida and Midoriya you were there to help them out next. You'd have to trust Todoroki to keep Stain busy.
Stain had taken down multiple heroes before, so you doubted Todoroki or you could take him down. However, if his only advantage in those fights were his quirk, you might be able to beat him in pure combat, considering your immunity to a quirk paralysis would make it a quirkless battle. His swords and knives wouldn't be too big of a problem to you either.
You heard Midoriya call out a quick warning soon after your analysis, an explanation of Stain's quirk, confirming your suspicions.
You decided on the latter, saving the victims first, but your role swapped with Todoroki. You could fight Stain, or at least stall for time until the real heroes arrived.
Before you could second guess yourself, you jumped in just in time to stop Stain from getting a lick of Todoroki's blood dribbling from a scratch on his cheek. Man, his tongue was long.
"Mx. [L/N]!" Midoriya called out, his face a combination of shock and confusion.
"Todoroki, get the victims out of here," you quickly ordered, keeping your voice steady. "I'll hold off Stain since I don't have to worry about his quirk."
"Can you keep up with him?" Todoroki asked, worried but reassured that a teacher was here. You both dodged a large swing from Stain, giving you a sense of his speed once again.
"Another one?" Stain growled. "You sure got yourself a bunch... Ingenium...." he swung at you specifically this time, and you barely dodged it. He was fast, but you could keep up. Perhaps you could even unarm him.
"Why...?" You heard Iida murmur, his voice shaky. "Mx. [L/N]... Todoroki... Please stop. I inherited my brother's name! I'm the one who has to do it!"
He was still caught up about revenge, huh. Eraserhead was right to be worried. You heard Todoroki say something in response to him, but you blocked it out, focusing on the villain.
You backed up against the wall, careful to give yourself a way out in case what you were planning didn't work. Stain saw the opening and dove in for it.
His face matched yours, concentrated and focused, however his was more crazy and filled with bloodlust underneath.
You watched, waiting until the last moment to move away from the points of his dual swords. He used much more force this time, thinking this was a chance. Instead, one of his swords got stuck in the mortar joint behind right where you were a second ago.
His other sword slashed at you as he abandoned the one stuck in the wall. You only barely moved back to dodge it in time, not expecting how far he reached. You shielded your face with your arm out of instinct, and his blade cut your arm, drawing blood.
You flinched, but didn't back down. Out of the corner of your eye you saw Midoriya moving again. Perhaps there was a time limit to Stain's quirk? Regardless, you could take advantage of this. You made eye contact with the green-haired student, nodding once.
You grabbed the sword with your hand before it swung away completely, flinching from the pain but smiled, seeing the surprise on Stain's face. It was only there for a moment before he returned the smile, thinking you had made a mistake and he could use his quirk on you.
He leaned forward quickly, tongue darting out and having a taste of the blood on your hands. Getting over the sliminess of his tongue, you moved back when Stain tried kicking you down, thinking you were paralyzed. You caught him off balance, and Midoriya saw the chance to come in to knock him down completely.
