Like what Nemuri had said, it was a logical ruse. Aizawa's face as he said so was unlike any other, and you couldn't help but laugh at the students' reactions.
The ones that had failed, especially, had despaired at the promise that it would have been harder than if they were to stay on campus.
You, on the other hand, were definitely looking forward to the week-long trip. You were excited to see the students suffer—ahem—and eventually improve. You've already noticed the change between when they first started and now.
"Since tomorrow's free and exams are over," you heard Hagakure's voice say, "let's go shopping together! C'mon, everyone in Class A!"
Her suggestion caught the interest of a lot of students, and while you cringed at the thought of shopping, you smiled at their energy.
Though on second thought, perhaps you should actually go as well. You never really went anywhere to stay for a few days, so you most likely didn't have the right clothing or extra clothing for the trip. The lodge guide that was handed out suggested a lot of things that you did not have.
You suddenly had an idea, and waited for everyone to settle down from the trip information before calling them to your attention.
"To celebrate you guys finishing the exams, why not treat you guys to a pizza party or something? Even the ones who didn't do so well." You saw Aizawa raise an eyebrow at you from the side while many of the students jumped with joy. "Since I need to buy some things too for the trip, we can all go to the park afterwards and you guys can relax right before summer training and supplementary classes for those who need it."
"That's a great idea!" Ashido exclaimed. Many of the other students erupted into cheers of agreement. Aizawa immediately flashed a scary look and you shook your head with a smile.
Iida raised a hand and you nodded towards him.
"That's beyond generous of you to do!" Iida stood up and bowed, his arms gesturing dramatically. "Thank you very much!"
"Thank you very much, Mx. [L/N]!"
"It really... not much," you murmured, much to yourself as the rest of your words were drowned out by more enthusiastic talking.
This time, Aizawa didn't stop them. Instead, he whispered to you. "Are you sure about this?"
"I've got the funds." You shrugged. "And the students seem to look forward to it."
"Not what I meant," he murmured, but shrugged as well and said no further words.

The next day, you met up with the students at the Kiyashi-ward shopping mall. Unfortunately, some students did not come despite your promise of free food.
Once they've bought everything, you were going to pass by a pizzeria and bring them to a park to hang around and relax.
The students split off to go and buy their own things, until it was just you, Midoriya, and Uraraka.
"I'm going to find some heavy-ish wrist weights," Midoriya said awkwardly, looking towards you and Uraraka.
"I need bug repellent," you said. "As well as some other stuff. I never really went to a lodge or camp so I'm looking forward to it."
"I also need bug repellent..." Uraraka added, then slowed her speech as she looked at Midoriya. "Yep, bug repellent!"
She ran off, flustered. You raised an eyebrow to yourself, then giggled a bit. "I'll go with her," you said, waving at Midoriya before going after Uraraka.
You left him with a confused expression on his face and caught up with her quickly. "You alright there?"
She seemed surprised at your concern. "Yeah, I didn't mean to run away like that. I just got flustered because I just remembered what Aoyama said to me before."
"You liking Midoriya?" you asked plainly.
"It's not like that!" She flustered up again. "Or is it that obvious...?"
"Nothing wrong with that."
She shook her head worriedly. "I'm going to go back and apologize for running off like that. We'll be shopping together, that's all!"
"You could always just join me and shop," you suggested kindly. "And talk to him about it later when you're sure you're not so flustered anymore."
"I'll be fine!" She bowed to you in thanks and excused herself, rushing back to find Midoriya.
You laughed to yourself. It really was obvious when you were aware of it.
You went off to go buy your own supplies, hoping Uraraka would be able to handle herself despite her nervousness.
Not too long later, just as you found the things you were looking for, a loudspeaker announced a temporary closing of the mall due to unforeseen circumstances.
You immediately worried, hoping it wasn't some villain because your students were there.
You met up with the students once they gathered and Midoriya explained to you what had happened.
Unfortunately, it was a villain. And worse, it was Tomura Shigaraki.
The police and local heroes arrived not too long later and Midoriya was led to the police station to explain more about the events that had unfolded.
You had a gut feeling it was not good. Seeing as the students were worried and panicked, you called off the pizza party. "You guys should go home and rest," you suggested. "I don't want another villain attack to worry you and... I have to check up on this." Perhaps the pizza party will be another time. You wanted to have a chat with Tomura as soon as possible, anyway. According to Midoriya, he had been acting differently from what you had remembered. A lot more... worrisome.
What happened to your little brother?
