THEA
I pushed the door opened and quickly walked in. The weather had been ridiculous today, it was not raining but the clouds looked like one, and it was a bit too windy for my liking. Looking around, I tried to find the person I agreed to meet.
Then I saw her. Jessy.
Arthur told me that Jessy would like to meet me in person. Basically, I didn't have a problem with that. As I thought about it, I also would like to meet her too. There was something that I needed to discuss with her. So I agreed to meet her today.
"Hi, I'm sorry, are you Jessy?" I asked as I approached her table. I had seen her photo before but I had to make sure I didn't get to the wrong person.
She looked up at me. "Hello, yes that's me. Thea, isn't it? Please, have a seat."
I took a seat in front of her. "Sorry I'm running late, I had a meeting just an hour ago."
Just by that, the waiter came handing us the book menu.
"It's fine, I understand." Jessy smiled at me then looked at the waiter. "Can I have a cup of ginger tea please?"
"I'll have a hot chocolate please." I said to the waiter.
The waiter took the note and assured us that our drinks would be ready soon. After he left, I looked at Jessy in front of me and noticed that she looked pale and tired. Arthur was right when he said that Jessy was ill.
She cleared her throat. "So.. thank you for agreeing to meet me. There's something that I need to tell you."
I nodded my head. "I'm listening."
"First of all, I want to apologize for coming back, for bringing the news that Arthur and I have a son. I'm really, really sorry for bringing this mess into your marriage."
I shook my head. "You don't have to apologize for that. I'm not mad, don't worry. Josh needs his father and I won't ever stop Arthur for meeting him."
She smiled. "Thank you so much, for understanding. Also you don't have to worry about me, I can assure you that I won't try to do anything to Arthur. I have realized my mistake of leaving him, I'm not going to ruin his happiness with you. I just want you to let me being there as Arthur's friend, as we both are trying to co-parenting Josh before I- die."
Instantly I felt bad to hear that from her. Jessy seemed nice, she looked genuine when she said those things. I knew I still had doubts but I would learn to trust her. Beside, I trusted Arthur.
"Thank you, I really appreciate that. Truthfully, it's the same thing that I need to discuss with you. I'm not gonna lie, I had a thought that maybe, just maybe, you have another intention of coming back. But as you just told me that there's nothing to worry about, I'll try to trust you. Only if you promise me to keep your promise, and to know your boundaries around my husband. That's all I'm asking."
It wouldn't hurt to prepare. I had to tell her what I needed her to know. To set boundaries between them. They would co-parenting for years, but didn't mean they would forget that I was also here. I married Arthur now so I would be in the picture as well. I didn't want to be kept in the dark when they co-parent.
"I promise," she instantly said. "I know it will be hard for you to trust me, Thea, but like I've said, I'm not going to ruin your marriage with him, I'm not an evil person. Arthur is like a family to me, he was my best-friend, and I will be damned if I hurt him again. Beside, I'm trying to do the best for Josh."
"Good, that's what I want to hear. As long as we respect each other boundaries."
She nodded her head. "I understand. So, we're good?"
