ARTHUR
It was only 8 in the morning when I touched down in London. I managed to get an early flight and was now on my way to the hospital. The whole flight, I kept thinking about Thea. Hoping she would be okay. Felix had confirmed that she was now stable, but I wouldn't relax until I saw her my self.
I rushed to where Thea's room was once I arrived in the hospital. I spotted Felix sitting on the chair outside the room with Jane and a police.
"How is she?"
"She was awake 3 hours ago but is asleep now." Felix said.
"Are you the husband?" the police asked me.
"I am. What happened to my wife?"
"Your wife was in an accident last night. A shopkeeper said that he saw her running across the street before she was hit by a car. The driver of the car and his wife brought her to the hospital, they have testified that they didn't hit her on purpose and had showed the dash cam to the police, along with the CCTV from the shop near the accident took place. We have checked the authenticity of both recordings, and both were proven innocent. We also have talked to your wife a few hours ago to hear her side of story, and she admitted that she crossed the street without looking both sides as she was in a hurry. The car hit was an accident, but the couple are willing to cover the hospital bill."
It was a relief that the driver was not some drunken asshole and they were willing to take responsibility of their action. But I was still pissed with the whole thing.
"Where are they now?"
"The husband is in the police station for another statement. I need you to come with us to the police station too."
"Can you give me a few hours? I need to see my wife first."
"I'll give you 2 hours."
"Thank you." I turned to Felix and Jane. "You both may leave now, I'll stay here and take care of my wife. Thank you for staying while I was gone."
I excused my self to go into the room, leaving Jane, Felix, and the police outside. Searching for the person, I found her sleeping on the bed. The first thing I saw was the band aid on her temple.
I walked further until I stood beside her bed. My heart crushed to see the bruise on her left cheek, I brought my hand and carefully caressing her bruised cheek. My poor wife.
Taking a seat on the chair beside her bed, I took her right hand and kissed it. "You scared me, darling."
I couldn't imagine the worst scenario that could have happened, and it scared me. It scared me that I could have lost her. It scared me so much to lose her.
Scratch that. I couldn't lose her. She had been an important person in my life now, and I didn't even want to imagine a life without her in it.
I heard the door crack opened behind me. The nurse walked in with an IV fluids.
"Hi, I just need to change her IV bag." the nurse announced as she went the left side of the bed. I nodded in response and she did what she needed to do.
"Can I talk to the doctor please?" I asked once she finished.
"Sure. I will let the doctor know that you are here."
After thanking her, she left the room and I turned to look at my wife once again. I was still processing what the police just told me about the accident. He said that Thea crossed the street in a hurry, why was she in a hurry? And where was Greyson anyway? Wasn't he with her yesterday?
