Whatever it takes

Chapter 15

For the next two weeks, everyone trained hard. 

Soon, it was time for the Festival. They were currently sitting in the waiting room, when Shoto approached Izuku.

"Izuku."

"Yeah Shoto?"

"I know we are great friends and all, but from this point, you are my rival. As long as we are together, it's fine, but if we are against each other, I will go all out," said Shoto.

"I know. You, Bakugo, Izumi, everyone are my rivals in this. As long as we are on the same side, I don't care, but if I am against any one of you, expect nothing less than 100 percent," said Izuku.

"H-how will we even fight against him?" asked a nervous Kaminari.

"It's because I believe that I can't win against any one of you without pulling all stops, Kaminari," said Izuku.

"But Shoto, you will also have to give 100%. Not just one half, both," said Izuku.

"Yeah," said Shoto with a small smile as he offered his hand.

"Yeah," said Izuku with a determined expression as he shook his hand.

"Soooo MANLY!" cried Kirishima.

'He is so... so... so AWESOME!' thought Ochako.

"Let's go, because... I CAN'T WAIT TO KILL YOU ALL!" yelled Bakugo.

"Yeah, all the best to you too," said Izumi.

"What?" asked everyone else, confused.

"Well, Kacchan may say he wants to kill everyone, but it's just his way of showing he cares," said Izuku.

"DEKU! I WILL BLAST YOUR DUMB ASS INTO SPACE!" yelled Bakugo. But everyone just ignored it and said, 'Awww, he cares,' pissing him off even more.

They then made their way outside.

"I-is it necessary to wear something like that? We are a school full of teenagers," said Kirishima as he sweat-dropped.

Midnight was there, wearing her skin-tight hero costume with a whip in her hand.

"Now we will call Izuku Yagi, representing the students, to speak a few words," said Midnight. She did say many things, but most were busy gawking at her costume.

"I pledge... that we will surpass every hero ever," said Izuku, and a silence fell upon the crowd.

Then they all started to clap.

"And I also pledge that I will prove that no matter the quirk, no matter if you are quirkless, you can still become a hero," he said and made his way back.

"Now it's time for the first round," yelled Midnight as she cracked the whip.

The wheel spun and stopped at the obstacle race.

Everyone now was on the starting line. As soon as the race started, everyone took off.

Izuku was in the front, closely followed by Izumi and Iida, and Shoto, who was propelling himself using the ice and fire. Along with Shoto, there was Bakugo, using his explosions to push himself forward. What confused most of class A was that Denki was also in front, at 7th place, running at speed never expected from him.

A few moments later, they got to the first obstacle. It was some robots, each as big as a three-pointer, and a few even bigger. (Yup, bigger and deadlier than the entrance exams, on the request of Aizawa)

"WILL YOU LOOK AT THAT! WHAT WILL THE STUDENTS DO NOWWWW," yelled Present Mic on the mic.

Shoto nonchalantly froze the robots as Izuku destroyed the one in front of him. They both went ahead, as Bakugo blasted the head off of one robot. Izumi used One for All to break one robot's leg.

"WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED! THEY WERE ALL DEFEATED IN AN INSTANCE. WHAT ARE YOU TEACHING YOUR CLASS, ERASER?"

"I didn't teach them that. They came up with it on their own," said Aizawa.

Ochako removed the gravity from broken pieces and used it to smash her way through.

Soon, they made it to the second obstacle, cliffs connected with ropes.

Asui, being a frog, easily started to make her way. Shoto froze the rope and slid on it.

Bakugo used his explosions to propel across.

A girl from the support course used her 'babies' to cross the canyon.

Ochako made herself weightless, and then floated across.

Izumi used one for all to jump over the canyon, and so did Izuku using his chi.

"Fuck ya all!" yelled Bakugo as he saw them leap over.

After they crossed the canyon, they reached the third and final obstacle, the minefield.

There, Izuku started to run carefully, watching for the mines.

So did Izumi, while Shoto just used his ice to travel over the mines.

Bakugo once again used explosions to propel himself forward.

Izuku now started to run without any care. 

"DEKU, DON'T THINK YOU CAN WIN," yelled Bakugo.

"Same for you Kacchan," yelled Izuku back.

And then, he stepped on a mine. The explosion sent Izuku flying, except Izuku went forward. This gave him an idea. He angled his foot in such a way that he once again landed on a mine, and once again was launched forward.

"WHAT THE HELL! IZUKU YAGI IS USING THE MINES TO HIS ADVANTAGE. BUT SOMEHOW THE MINES AREN'T AFFECTING HIM? NANIIIIII!," yelled Mic.

"Look, he has enveloped his foot with Chi. The foot is tearing through the explosion before it can affect it, but the impact is lifting Yagi off the ground.", Aizawa explained.

As soon as Aizawa said that, Izuku crossed the finish line, with Shoto second, Izumi third, and Bakugo fourth. Ibara Shiozaki then crossed the line at fifth place followed by Iida at sixth, and then Kaminari came seventh, as he came running, in the process destroying any mine in a radius of 10 meters using his electricity causing others to stave away.

"GO TO HELL IZUKU!" yelled Bakugo.

"Thanks, Kacchan, and congratulations to you too," said Izuku, causing Bakugo to grumble angrily and Izumi to laugh. Shoto gave a light chuckle.

"Deku kun! That was amazing, I still have a long way to go," said Ochako excitedly.

"T-t-thank y-you O-Uraraka San," said Izuku as he blushed.

'So close!' he thought.

Then the ranks were announced.

"Now for the next event... CAVALRY BATTLE!" yelled Midnight excitedly as she explained about it.

"... So points awarded to 42nd place is 5, 41st is 10, 40th is 15.... and the first is..." she paused to create an air of suspense.

"10 MILLION!"

"..."

"..."

"..."

"..."

There was silence in the whole stadium.

"Life really hates me," groaned Izuku.

"I feel sorry for you," said Shinso.

Okay so in most books the sports festival arc is only four or five chapters long, but I am telling you guys this will span till chapter 27 or 28. And it's not gonna be boring either, it's gonna be one of the most interesting thing I have ever written.
