plot:
SENT OUT on a mission to inquire the secrets Howard Stark had on a weapon to aid in the war, an agent is instead distracted by a man who helps her hail a taxi. With the stress of handling herself to seem inconspicuous in times where even female spies were slowly disappearing from being caught, the idea of an individual constantly seeking out her attention wasn't what she paid to mind in considering. No questions were asked on whether her higher ups sought out these plans on the super weapon that supposedly could end the word was for good or evil, Audrey simply did as she was told; it's what she was taught to do. The blind loyalty only being the demise of her character she had built so hard on.
With her identity on the line and constantly running the risk of getting caught an overly presumptuous male she met on her first taxi drive up into the Brooklyn area became keen on doing just what she was afraid anyone would do- get to know her. In a state of the world where everyone should be taken into account on sooner or later pulling a double cross left Audrey to be more than skeptical on the mans romantics thinking that he wasn't to be trusted. Even despite the puppy dog eyes he'd often give her she'd find out eventually that he would be her greatest ally in seeking out the information she was after.

• goes by code name in NYC so Bucky doesn't actually know her real name until MUCH later
• signs around warming about spies so she's overly cautious and why she thinks Bucky is suspicious instead of him just wanting to be around her
• purposefully calls him James and he always corrects her in the beginning to call him Bucky, but he eventually gives up
• agency does have connections with hydra so uh 😗 not so happy endings here either but Audrey is unaware about everything going on
• total lovesick puppy, pre- draft so still has that charm and flirt
• lots of letters after he's drafted to stay in touch ! !
