• okay like that plot is vague but it's basically inspired by the film When Harry Met Sally which is why it sounds that way lol
• met before Michael hit his fame and so they're familiar with each other's quirks
• Bella was studying at university in Los Angeles at the time when Michael had just moved out from Burnaby to LA
• was working at the café they always visited when they first met and that kinda just stayed as their spot after she quit and became really successful in her career
• on her second year as a journalism major when they first meet 😗 and this is pre-Family Ties too ( 1981 )
• don't have serious friendship until late 80s by that point with her becoming serious in her writing and him constantly seeing her name in the papers
• also not affiliated with entertainment industry so they see less of each other that way too. like actual news reports here not writing about celebrities on Seventeen lol

• at this point in the 90s he'd already finished up the back to the future trilogies and family ties and he was thinking it as an opportunity to finally cool down and relax because lord knows the boy was doing all his projects back to back in later years 🥺
• and Bella knows this just from seeing how tired he'd be and she always puts her work first before her social life so she tries to set him up with someone and he tries to set her up with someone and damn thing falls through completely
