plot:
WHAT WITH the rising popularity of John Hughes films, it was hard for anyone on the team to catch a break some days. Everyone had become synonymous with the director's image regardless of them wanting to or not, this including Janis Laughlin and Molly Ringwald. Notably becoming the director's muse through the media and even those in production taking a hint to this since the release of Sixteen Candles, the star and him were no where without the other.
Janis, on the contrary, road around on the coattails of the man in the hopes of gaining the amount of popularity he seemed to have in the duration of a few years. With aspirations to direct films of her own and grateful she took on his words before his skyrocketing success in '84, such seems to be side-railed by the red head on the set taking up all her attention.
song inspiration:
• Girls on Film by Duran Durannotes:
• Janis has a major crush from the START and is terribly awkward around her because of it
• her job on set is kind of more of an assistant and she doesn't have any actual duties because she's still learning the industry
•best believe she makes notes on lighting and everything and Hughes will take them into consideration, we love to see it
• definitely jokes when people ask why she chose to work with Hughes and she responds with "Spielberg was too famous for me to call"
•also is inevitably friended by other members of the Brat Pack like Judd and Rob because she's their age and will 10000% have pranks on set
•everyone is in on her being in love with Molly and asking her to just admit it but she's nervous 🤧
• also definitely a line when she introduces herself to anyone and being like "Janis. Yes, as in Joplin" because her parents were major Joplin fans
