"Julie hasn't shown you guys Tik Tok?
ALEX doesn't totally understand why he's at the school with Reggie. What he does know is his interaction with Willie earlier in the day had completely wrecked his spirit, and he isn't really in any mood to deal with much, despite the band's attempts to cheer him up. He also knows that, for some reason, Luke was totally ok with the two ditching practice, which is a rare occurrence.
"Where do you think they are?" Reggie asks as the two wander down the empty halls. "Luke said Julie had some dance recital, right? So, maybe they're dancing?"
"Who are you talking about?" Alex asks as they pass the music room. He glances in to see a bunch of students sitting in a circle. Strange.
"Jess and Justin. Who else do we know?" Reggie laughs. He suddenly pauses, holding out a hand for Alex to stop too. "Guess we got lucky, huh?"
Alex turns to the room Reggie approaches with a small frown. The two walk through the door to see Justin dancing alone around the room in sweatpants and a tight tank top. Music must be blaring through his headphones as even Alex can hear the fast beat from where he stands; Justin continues without noticing the two ghosts as he throws his hands in the air before he jumps to the side into a crouch. Sweat drips from his forehead, but he doesn't seem to notice or care.
"Wow," Reggie gapes. "I knew he was good but..."
Alex can only nod as he stares at Justin bouncing around the room with a giddy smile on his face and his hair sticking to his forehead. He had never thought of the medium as muscular before, but damn, those arms are no joke now that they are straining with every twist and turn. The only other time Alex had really noticed just how pronounced those muscles are was the night of the dance when Justin had worn that red shirt.
Justin has his eyes closed as he spins, hair flicking out in all directions before instantly sliding across the ground, nodding his head to the beat in his ears. When he gets up, he stumbles, his eyes opening wide as a yelp escapes his mouth.
Before he knows what he's doing, Alex poofs next to the boy, gripping his shoulder to keep him upright while Justin scrunches his face up as he prepares for the ground. When he realizes he is being held, Justin opens his eyes to meet Alex's.
"Um, hi," Justin pants, staring up at Alex as he takes out an earphone.
Alex has never seen a prettier brown than what he finds in Justin's eyes. He'd noticed how the light makes his eyes almost gold before, but learning it all over again knocks the breath from his chest. "Hi," Alex replies, swallowing roughly. "That was, um, that was a really good routine."
