Fascinating (A Duskwood Fanfiction)

Chapter 8

As soon as (YN) finally went back to Lilly's apartment safely, she decided to look on her archives about her past published articles, hoping she could find that familiar logo of a raven she saw on Aurora Bar. Lilly and she talked for a mean about what happened to the bar and (YN) said everything went well and nothing bad occurred while she was in there. It's already late but they still manage to talk and have midnight snacks while discussing Hannah's case. Lilly chose to sleep because she has morning work tomorrow, while (YN) is going to search and satisfy her disturbed mind about that logo.

"Good night, (YN)," Lilly addressed her as they both went into their rooms. "Update me if you found something. And take a rest, it's been a long day." She added.

"You too, good night." (YN) replied after giving a soft smile and closed the door behind her.

She sat on the bed, opening her laptop and started on browsing her archives. (YN) took long hours to find the article that contains the logo of the raven; she skipped some unrelated articles and opened the others one-by-one to confirm its contents. It's already 2:30 in the morning and she's still browsing, the articles she kept opening are already published two years ago now until she found this headline: CORVUS ORDER FOUND GUILTY AGAINST THEIR VICIOUS CRIME. The logo of the raven she saw in Aurora bar has an accurate resemblance to the picture indicated on the article, along with the pictures of the members of the group syndicate and so are the images of solid evidence against them. The article is so detailed, not biased and every possible thought is indicated there if anyone could think of some flaws.

While she was reading the whole article, she suddenly felt nostalgia. (YN) almost forgot about this case, she unexpectedly remembered how hard the process she had been through just to publish this case years ago, the events in her life during those times is purely unacceptable despite the success of bringing up to public the crimes of this syndicate group, Corvus Order. The consequences of her great success can't compare to the pain she suffered that time because she lost someone that is important to her. (YN) tried to accept everything, moved on, forget what happened and continued on making a story that needs to be published in order for the public to know the horrible truths about the evils in this world that are hiding beneath the darkness and continuing to harm innocent people.

In the morning, before Lilly could get off to her work, she and (YN) discussed the article she found last night. Of course, (YN) remains silent about her real profession and only claims about discovering the article is from the mighty internet. (YN) told Lilly about the logo of the raven she saw engraved in the VIP area of Aurora bar, its familiarity and where it originally came from--- from a Mafia syndicate group called Corvus Order. At first Lilly can't believe that the disbanded mafia group is once again existing, especially in this town as if there is something significant here because Duskwood is not quite a known town, however she also thought why (YN) suddenly brought this up.

"Weird, since I am following the lead of Duskwood legend, I saw a resemblance to it. From the logo to their ways of killing, all of the victims are killed in the forests." (YN) answered in a serious tone. What she said is true, but she knew Lilly would think more about this.

"Then how is it connected to Hannah's disappearance?"

"I just received a file from her cloud that she has a digital copy of Legends of Duskwood. It's been our lead since Cleo talked to Alfie, and my belief becomes even more concrete that it has something to do with Hannah's case." She asserted with the same expression of seriousness.

Lilly can't have any reasons for her not to believe in (YN) because she must be able to trust her and if she found anything that is considered in the case of Hannah, she will make sure of if there is a connection at all or none. She might be wrong to (YN) in the first place but she slowly knows and gets her character and (YN) deserves to earn her trust. After they talked, Lilly finally leaves to go to her work, (YN) decided to stay in the apartment for a while to search for more info and study the leads she has right now.
