The next race came. Jordyn sat in her trailer getting herself mentally, knowing that Storm will pul one of his mind game tricks like normal. She had been impressed with herself in being patient with herself with him, no matter how much she wanted for him to leave. She felt that this was the race where her speed might be the deciding factor of her victory or defeat.
She closed her eyes and started to breathe in and out, clearing her mind as her dad did before, and as he had taught her. She opened her eyes and let out one last breath before the knock on the door came through. "Alright Jordyn," Mack Cheered, "they're ready for you."
"Let's do it." Jordyn let out. She dropped the door millions of flashes filled the way, There must've been thousands of photographers there just waiting for her. As soon as she had gotten to the ground the paparazzi had parted like the red sea, giving her room to drive to pit road to actually get ready for the race. She got to her pit stop where Guido was waiting for her. He started putting her tires on, then trouble rolled up.
"Hey wanna be." Storm snipped. Jordyn did not move. "A little birdie told me that Champ's birthday was a couple of days ago was it not?"
"What do you want?" Jordyn asked snappingly. Storm's eyes widened.
"Can you just answer my question first then I'll answer yours." He retorted. She rolled her eyes.
"Yes, it was. Now, what do you want?" She still snapped. He rolled up beside her and glared.
"Just thought I'd check." He smirked. She rolled her eyes again. He rolled off to his pit and got ready.
"Lo gestisci meglio di tuo padre." Guido remarked. Jordyn had started picking up Italian when she was smaller. she could kind of understand what Guido was saying. But not fully.
"He said you've been handling storm's attitude better than your dad was able to." Luigi chimed in. Jordyn smiled and gave a small giggle. Then her dad appeared from behind the crew chief post.
"And he's not wrong." He added. "You ready to go?" Jordyn nodded. She followed all the racers in front of her. She looked around and saw all the cars in the stands cheering her and storm's names everywhere.
"Welcome to the second to last race of the piston cup series. And boy has this season been one to remember huh Darrell." Bob remarked. Darrell nodded in agreement.
"You know Bob, after five years without the McQueen's in the sport, it hadn't been all that exciting, and now they're back and my adrenaline has been kicking in and ho boy! I can tell this is going to be a race to remember. Jordyn has certainly made an impact, being the youngest competitor and one of the smartest, just like her dad back in the day." Darrell answered.
Everyone watched as the flag operator waved the starting flag, and the racers went off. As always Storm started in the lead with Jordyn right on his spoiler. The two would always make it a battle to be the first one to cross after every lap. One lap it would be Jordyn, then the next would be Storm just creeping up behind her. The roaring fans would get louder everytime their favorite racers would cross. some would get louder than others.
Both, then made their way to the pits to change tires and get gas, both rushing their teams to get them out on the track before the other. Guido had just finished getting Jordyn's tires on. She whizzed passed Storm. "Hey! You better speed up old man." She yelled as she got further away and onto the track. She held on to the lead for about five to six laps before storm stole it again.
The final lap flag made it's appearance, and Jordyn and Storm knew who ever won this would have a right of way to the Piston Cup. Jordyn started noticing the Storm was Shaking a little bit. "What's wrong buddy Scared your going to lose to another girl." Jordyn taunted.
"First of all I'm not your buddy, second of all, I'm not losing to the likes of you anymore." He shouted. She gave a small smirked.
"Oh I get it you're scared then." She teased once more. Storm glared at Jordyn, with the bright smile that she had on there was no way he was going to have this race the way he wanted. He staretd pushing himself too much. "You know you're a fluffy cloud right." He gave her a confused look. As she sped up and went along turn two. He sped and drove along side.
"You know I cant' tell if you're trying to pull a me or i'm just just paraiod." He remarked.
"Are you sure it's not both." She smiled. His eyes narrowed as they entered turn three. "Becuase trust me you'll know when you know." She smiled again and drove off. His eyes got wide as he watched her cross the checkered strip and watched the flag wave violently. He saw the bright smil on her face and on her dad's face. He didn't know what to do anymore. All he could think about was he was in a slump and he needed to ge out of it now.
