Once the race started both Jordyn and Storm battled each other to keep the lead. Storm would have it for a few laps and Jordyn would have it for others. And the cycle kept repeating over and over again. They were about the same speed too. They kept their lines and nothing more. Jordyn may have been a rookie, she sure didn't show it. She looked like a veteran. About one hundred laps in Storm tried to get into her head. She ignored him and took the lead from him yet again. She would take glances over to her pit and she would find her dad laughing. He thought it was funny that they switched almost every lap .She rolled her eyes and went on with the race.
The final lap was coming up the white flag was out and both Jackson and Jordyn were wanting the win. In any way the two of them would move on to the season. Storm took a peek over to Jordyn who gleamed with determination. Nothing he did would stop her. But something did come to his mind. He started to rally. She looked over and she did the same. He got further, as did she. The came around turn four and Storm was ahead by a nose. But no sooner than later. Jordyn came buzzing by. She looked like a red and orange blur as she sped past Storm and won the race. As the racers entered pit road. Everyone did what they did last time, they congratulated her and told her did amazing. One of the racers that they would see her in season. Did the rest of the believe that too? The more she thought about it more excited she became.
"Well today has been full of surprises. Hasn't it." Jordyn mocked, as Storm drove over to her.
"We'll see what happens next. We all know where we belong." He snapped back.
"I bet we do. But not right this minute. You know you'd be better, if you weren't so self absorbed." She retorted back. Jackson eyed Lightning.
"You to let her talk like that to me Champ." He remarked. Lightning was trying his best to hold in his laughter.
"You to love barking at each other don't ya." Lightning replied. "I can't really do anything about that because I had to learn too. So sometime or another you will too." He looked over to Jordyn and smiled. She smiled back and gave a small giggle. Storm rolled his eyes and looked back to the press.
"Today really has brought a lot of racers A games today for a spot in this year's Piston cup season. Two of crowd favorites are in the running. This season should be interesting and should be packed full of competition and fun." Darrell shouted.
"Right you are Darrell, new comer Jordyn McQueen's stats have been blown off the charts as we've seen she comes by it honestly. and being coached by the one and only Lightning McQueen. His skilll passed on to her she give her an advantage over the competition this year. And should give Storm a great workout." Bob replied. "With all that aside let's announce this year's piston cup racers."
The crowd went dead silent to hear who would make it the season. Then the P.S.A came on. "Ladies and Gentlecars i will be reading off all the racers that have made it to the new season. Started with number one..." The announcer read off. He read off more and more racers, "number nineteen Jordyn McQueen." He said. She couldn't believe it. "Number twenty, Jackson Storm." He looked over to Jordyn and gave her a smirk. She looked at him and smirked back.
"She you in Florida then Champ." Jordyn retorted. She drove away from Storm.
"Hey Champ is my thing not yours." he shouted. "But I can't wait for the play date." She rolled her eyes and went to her trailer. And so did he. Their drivers came picked up the trailers and drove away from the stadium. She knew this season would be an interesting one.
Mack met Lightning at the racing center. All the news casters and photographers surrounded the trailer as soon as the door opened the reporters and photographers swarmed the opening. Jordyn tried making her way through all the cars in the driveway, but finally made her way into the training center. She took a deep breath and drove on. she saw her dad looking at his "Career on a Wall" She noticed that he was looking at the picture of Doc on the wall. She could see that her dad missed him. After all Doc was almost like a father figure to Lightning. She drove over to his side. "How are you feeling dad?" She asked. He lookd over to her and smiled.
"I'm great thanks for asking." He replied. She smiled at him and joined him looking at the pictures on the walls. All the stories Lightning had told her, to Jordyn, they started coming to life. She could picture every race and every moment of those stories just popped. She was glad to be with her dad. And he didn't need to say anything, he was glad she was with him too.
