Dad: “So who’s your new friend?”

Mads: *awkwardly*
“We were just filming tiktoks.”

Mom: “You don’t even-”

Mads: *cutting her Mom off*
“We gotta go Mom. Everyone is waiting for us downstairs.”

Mads dragged him out of the kitchen while her dad questioned her mom on how weird she was acting. Jaden stopped her at the top of the stairs:
“I really don’t want to go back down there as bad as that fight was.”

Mads: “Fine, we can wait in my room but no more stealing my food.”

She shut her door slightly, leaving it cracked like the rule of the house and then sat her pasta bowl on the desk.

Jaden: “Did you really wanna film a tiktok?”

Mads: *laughing*
“No, I don’t even do tiktok.”

Jaden: *shocked*
“I mean I barely do either, but I have like 250k. How is your sister big on the app and you don’t even have it downloaded?”

Mads: “How do you have so many?”

Jaden: “I used to film with Josh a lot and it got me like 50k and then I started singing. Everyone at school thought it was lame, but my followers just kept going up the more I posted my music.”

Mads: “I don’t think that’s lame at all. I wanna hear your music!”

He took her phone while she scrolled through his listening to his posts that had original songs on them. She was still in awe vibing along with the melodies when he leaned her phone up against her bookshelf.

Jaden: “C’mon. We can do one together.”

They filmed a video and he pushed a bunch of buttons while she argued:
“I don’t even know who I’d follow besides my sister on there.”

Jaden: “All posted I followed everyone from school I knew and myself of course. You’re officially a tiktokker.”

Mads rewatched the video, blushing harder than she ever had

Mads rewatched the video, blushing harder than she ever had. She couldn’t get past how he looked at her and wondered if he noticed too. When she backed out of the video and noticed she’d already gained 50 followers and almost a hundred likes in a few short minutes:
“Wow.”

Jaden: *leaning closer*
“Wow… definitely wow.”

She looked up to find his blue eyes staring into hers and she didn’t even think twice before leaning into them. Just before they touched, her door swung open and her sister was standing there shocked:
“When do you decide to get a tiktok?”

Josh: *following behind*
“I’m ready to go, Jaden.”

Jaden: “What’s your problem? We’ve only been here an hour.”

Josh: “I’m over it. Let’s go. Now.”

Jaden rolled his eyes and smiled apologetically at the girls before following Josh downstairs and to the car.

Josh: “She’s literally being so dumb.”

Jaden: “It sounded like she didn’t want you flirting with other girls. How is that dumb?”

Josh: “Are you seriously taking her side right now?”

*END JADEN’S POV*

Mads: *waiting for the door to shut behind the boys*
“Why do you let him talk to you like that?”

You: “He was just mad. He usually isn’t like that. I think maybe football practice was just stressful today.”

Mads: “You can’t just make excuses for him treating you like garbage forever.”

You: *changing subject*
“Can we talk about what I walked in on instead? Since when are you and Jaden Hossler hanging alone in your bedroom kissing?”

Mads: “We didn’t. You came in before anything happened like that. Besides, he's way too old and too popular for me. I’m sure he doesn’t see me like that.”

You: “I thought Josh was way out of my league and look at us. We’ve been together almost 2 years.”

Mads: “2 miserable years. Not exactly a goal, no offense.”

You: “We aren’t miserable. He loves me.”

Mads: “Does he? Or does he just love that you love him.”

That hurt a lot more than you were prepared for and you turned to escape in your room.

Mads: “Wait. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it like that.”

You: “I’m just tired. It’s been a long day. Can we just talk tomorrow.”
