She was rushing around her room trying to get the last bit of it cleaned before Jaden showed up. She expected this to be the best summer ever since it was the first she actually had a boyfriend, but Jaden had been so busy with music that she really only spent a few hours every few days with him alone. She had made it to all of his shows and she knew that meant the world to him, but it just wasn’t the same as how she’d pictured it. She sat alone still on her bed 2 hours after Jaden promised to be there when finally her phone rang. She contemplated not even answering but she knew she didn’t have the willpower to stay mad.

Mads: “You’re late… again.”
Jaden: “I know, I know. Chase showed up to the studio and you know I’ve been working really hard to get him to let me help him record something. Today he finally started.”
Mads: “Baby, I’m really proud of you both. I am. I just miss you.”
Jaden: “I know, sweets. I’ll be leaving here within the next 15 minutes because Chase and your sister have plans anyway. I will head straight there, I promise.”
She agreed and tried to make it seem like everything was okay but deep down it really bothered her that the only reason he was following through was because Chase was willing to be on time for his date.
*END MADS’ POV*
You popped your head in your sister’s room: “Heya, Jaden is dropping Chase off in a few because we have plans. Is he staying? We should all watch a movie together?”
Mads: “I don’t know. Maybe you should ask him. Apparently you know more about his plans than I do.”
You: “I’m sorry, sis. I know it sucks but you have to be excited for him. He’s gotten the chance to play with his headlining act the last few shows. He just wants to grab the momentum while he has it.”
Mads: “I know. It just sucks. You and Chase have had this like awesome summer with camping, taking trips to the lake, just spending all this time together and I’m left here alone with-”
Nessa: *interrupting* “The sad pregnant girl. Yeah. I know.”
Mads: “I was going to say with myself. I love spending time with you, Ness. My sister’s right. We should all watch a movie together tonight.”
*JADEN’S POV*
He and Chase walked in the front door and found Nessa chilling on the couch. She was 6 months along and was finally starting to feel good, physically. After months of nausea and feeling miserable, she finally was holding her head up high with a hand on her adorably round belly.

Chase: “Hey, where’s my girl?”
Nessa: “They’re in the kitchen making snacks. They thought we could maybe watch a movie.”
The girls joined and Chase curled up in the recliner with his girlfriend as they playfully argued about what movie to put on.
Nessa: *struggling to open her bag of chips* “UGH!”
Jaden: *plopping next to Nessa and popping open the chip bag for her* “Hey, lil mama. I gotchu.”
Mads sat on the other side of Jaden with a bowl of popcorn in her lap still holding some resentment towards Jaden for being so late. Nessa noticed Mads’ aggravated tone and misinterpreted it as annoyance at Jaden’s sweet nickname towards her. She tried to adjust how she was sitting further away from Jaden. She was reassured when Mads tossed a piece of popcorn towards her and winked at her. The two of them had gotten so close this summer and sometimes Jaden didn’t know how he felt about it.

You: “What have you been up to tonight, baby?”
Jaden: “I finally got him into the studio with me!”
Nessa: “You have such a good voice Chase, you really need to let Jaden produce a song for you. His music knowledge and your talent would be insane.”
Chase: “Actually, we have been working on something.”
You: “Oh my God!! Do you have any clips? We gotta hear it.”
Jaden: “Actually, he recorded almost a whole song tonight.”
Chase: “I just sang, Jaden is helping me tweak the lyrics and made the beat.”
Jaden: “Don’t sell yourself short, my dude. You literally rocked this. I keep trying to convince him to post a clip to tiktok. He’s gotta start putting out his own music.”
Chase: “I don’t know man. You’re already playing local gigs. You’re going places and I just don’t have the guts to do all of that.”
