Monday at school you were were sulking your way through the day. Josh was still punishing you and hadn’t spoken to you since your mom made him leave Friday night. You were slamming your bag into your locker so you could get to cheer practice when a pile of papers fell out.

Chase: *startling you*
“Hey, um- I don’t know if you’re talking to me or whatever.’

You: *growing frustrated*
“Of course I’m talking to you, Chase.”

Chase: “Oh- Um, ok. Well if I pick you up after practice do you think you could help me finish our project? I don’t want to ruin it by trying to do it myself.”

You slammed your locker shut leaving the papers on the floor and blow out a deep breath:
“You know what, I’m skipping it. Let’s go now.”

Chase: “Oh- Uh- Well we have to drive Avani too because her dad took her car for a week.”

You walked up with Chase and she was already leaning against the car. She gave you a dirty look and called:
“Front Seat!”

You climbed in the back and Chase caught your gaze in the rearview mirror. He flashed you a smile that shattered any frustration you were still holding onto. You smiled back and looked down nervously as he focused back on the road.

Avani was fixing her makeup in the visor mirror while Chase was inside paying for the gas he just pumped. You took the chance to compliment her:
“You’re really good at make-up.”

Avani flipped the mirror up abruptly and quipped:
“What’s your deal?”

You: “I- I don’t know what you mean?”

Avani: “Look Chase is the most amazing guy you will probably ever meet and if you do anything to hurt him or let your idiot bf hurt him it’ll be the last thing you do.”

Chase hopped back in the car and tossed you each a hershey’s kiss:
“They were free at the cash register because Valentine’s Day is soon.”

Avani: “Thanks, bud. Now hurry home or my dad’s gonna kill all of us. Part of being grounded I guess means teleporting home after school.”

Chase laughed and made it across town in record time. Avani hopped out and pressed the button you were struggling with to get the front seat leaned forward so you could get out. It would have been a sweet gesture except it nearly knocked you out of the car and judging by her smirk, it was intentional. You couldn’t blame her for how much she clearly hated you. You were treating Chase awful and she was his best friend. You deserved every bit of it and decided you were going to go out of your way being as sweet tonight as possible.

You sat at the counter and tossed your candy wrapper at him:
“The kiss was great.”

He nearly choked as you laughed and explained you meant the candy.

You: “Sorry, bad joke. I did appreciate the candy though. I have such a sweet tooth.”

Chase: “Really? I have the stuff for cupcakes if you wanna try our hand at cooking again.”

You hopped up and helped him get out all the ingredients. You poured them one by one into the mixer as he read off the recipe. When you turned it on you must have clicked too high of a setting because batter started splattering everywhere. He stepped behind you with an arm on either side of you and threw a towel over the mixer to catch the mess as he tried to figure out how to turn it down. You could feel his body press against your back and your pulse quickened at his touch. By the time he figured out the off button you were both covered in batter and you turned around giggling. He saw you laughing and burst into laughter himself.

You were still pinned to the counter, facing him as he tried to wipe some of the batter off your cheek

You were still pinned to the counter, facing him as he tried to wipe some of the batter off your cheek. His finger trailed down across your bottom lip slowly and you felt your breath catch. He must have noticed because he pulled back:
“I was trying to not cross a line. I’m so sorry.”

You: “I’m not.”

Without hesitation your mouth was on his and he kissed you back far more urgently than the first time. His hands moved to the counter on either side of you, holding you in place. You felt his hands move to your waist and let a gasp escape as he lifted you up onto the counter. He took advantage of the gasp and pushed his tongue against yours spreading warmth through your body.

You thawed as his hands moved to your behind and grasped firmly to pull you to the edge so your thighs were pressed tightly to his hips. Your hands were grasping the back of his hair as you completely gave into the shockwaves shaking you to your core.

You barely heard your phone ring over the music that’d been playing while you baked but when it registered you jumped down and raced over to grab it. It’d been Nessa but the thought that it could have been Josh froze you back up. You pulled the apron off and wiped your face with it before apologizing and racing towards the door.
