Everyone watched in awe as you pulled away from the kiss with a smile that nothing could wash away. Chase looked down at you and cupped your cheek in his hands before placing one more soft kiss against your bottom lip and exhaling. One particular spectator clearly was more shocked than the others because he declared: “You’ve got to be kidding me.”
Nessa: “Aww let her be cute. God, I’m so lonely.”
Josh: “BS. I don’t have to watch this. Nessa, let’s go.”
Before Nessa could protest, Josh grabbed her arm and began yanking her away.
Nessa: “Ow. Josh, stop! You’re hurting me.”
*JADEN’S POV*
He, Mads, Cooper, and Sab were all still deep in conversation about what they were going to do after graduation when they were stunned silent by the kiss. More specifically Cooper and Sab were shocked while he and Mads pretended that this was a brand new revelation. His laughter quickly faded into panic when he saw Josh manhandling Nessa. He jumped up and raced over: “Take your hands off her.”
Josh: “Mind your business, dude. She literally is fine.”
Jaden: “She doesn’t look fine. Maybe if you let her go she could decide where she wants to go.”
Josh: “She can speak for herself.”
They both stood staring at Nessa waiting for her to answer. She fumbled out: “I- I just want you to let me go.”
Jaden: “That’s it, dude. You heard her. Hands off.”
Josh: “Jesus, you act like I’m forcing something on you. You literally came voluntarily to see ME last time.”
Nessa: “That was last time. I’m sorry.”
Josh: *storming out* “God, I’m done with you. I’m done with all of you!”
Nessa was crying by the time Jaden turned to face her.
Jaden: “What’s wrong? Did he hurt you?”
Nessa: “No, no. Not at all. I just- Is that really all he thinks of me? Someone to hook up with when who he really wants rejects him?”
Jaden wrapped his arms around Nessa while she wiped her tears on his arm. She knew they would only ever be just friends but she knew his comfort was something she could depend on. If anything it made his comfort better. She knew it was pure and had no ulterior motives. He wasn’t just using a kind gesture to get her into bed.
Nessa: “I just want to go home.”
Jaden: “Give me a second, I’m driving you.”
Jaden turned to get Mads but saw Josh storming back towards the bonfire. He changed direction to lead Nessa towards the car before she was forced to face him again. He pulled out his phone to let Mads know they needed to go. He helped Nessa into his car and reached across to buckle her up. She still had tears streaming down her face.
Nessa: “You don’t have to do this. I don’t want to cause any problems with you and Mads. I’ll be fine, I promise.”
Jaden: “I know you are but you don’t have to be alone right now. Mads will understand.”

*MADS’ POV*
Cooper: “You’re really going to let your boyfriend take another girl home?”
Sab: “Cooper can take me home if you wanna go with him.”
Mads: “After how Josh treated her, I’m guessing she could use some best friend time.”
Sab: “Wow. I could never.”
Cooper hugged her and laughed before kissing Sab. He found the jealous girlfriend comment kinda cute.
Mads: “I get it but Jaden is different than most men. No offense Coop.”
Cooper: *laughing* “None taken.”
*END MADS’ POV*
You were blissfully unaware of any of the drama happening across the bonfire. You had heard Josh’s comment, but still felt like you were floating above it all.
Chase: “Wow.”
You: “If you’re gonna be mine, you’re gonna have to get used to kissing me like that.”
Chase: “Oh I am most definitely yours.”
You: *smiling* “My what?”
Chase: “I want to be your boyfriend. Sooooo, how about it?”
