Jenna had no idea what had went wrong with her marriage as she opened the front door, the small family in front of her with bright smiles on their faces.
They soon faded as they saw Jenna's face.
"Come in." Jenna said, faking a smile but she could tell that the married couple could tell something was off. Their kid on their hand, went running up to Jenna, hugging her leg.
"Thanks for inviting us over." Inhye said as she stepped inside with her husband, Seungwoo. Jenna picked the small boy, Woojae, up, carrying him in her arms as she closed the door.
"Oh my gosh, you've grown so much." Jenna cooed, making the boy laugh before walking inside."Make yourself at home, you three are here more often than my husband is anyways."
"Let me guess, Jaehyun's busy again?" Inhye asked as they moved towards the table, where there was an empty spot.
"Yup. With Johnny and his late night boxing class." Jenna told the family as she placed Woojae down in his special seat.
Jenna knew that it sounded like her husband was cheating on her, which she knew Jaehyun would never do. But NCT was getting busier and busier, especially after the addition of two new members, and Jenna honestly barely remembered the last time she had slept with her husband by her side.
"Let me help you." Inhye suggested and Jenna nodded, letting the woman follow her to the kitchen where the food was while her husband entertained their child. "Jenna, are you alright?"
"I really don't feel like it." Jenna admitted as she turned around, facing her friend as she leaned back on the counter. "It's not a dying romance or anything, it's just.. It's like we're in a long distance relationship when we're in the same city. I only ever get to talk to him when he's calling me while he drives or when he comes by to change his clothes."
"I guess that's what happens when you're married to the underboss of NCT who just happens to be the new Head of Jeong Enterprises too." Inhye pointed out.
"I know, wasn't it so convenient that his father stepped down right after we got married." Jenna mumbled, decently angry. "I get that I was not his first choice in daughter-in-law but this is a bit much, don't you think?"
"Mr. Jeong is... something." Inhye admitted as Jenna passed her one of their dinner dishes. "But what about Jaehyun's mother? You know she always loved you more and she might get through to her son better. Jaehyun's always been a momma's boy."
"I don't want to bother her, she's pretty busy as well." Jenna said, grabbing another dish but stopped when she realized Inhye was in her way, preventing her from getting to the dinning area.
"Oh please, Jenna. You're the busiest business woman in Neo City. If you can make time for Ms. Jeong, she would be delighted to meet with you."
...
Jenna adjusted her skirt as she sat there in the garden patio, staring at the flowers. As the doors to the tea house opened, she stood up, quickly greeting the elder woman.
"Thank you so much for making time in your schedule to have some tea and biscuits with me, eommeonim." Jenna said as she took Ms. Jeong's arm, the two of them walking towards the table.
"I should be thanking you. It's not everyday where I get to share a moment with my lovely daughter-in-law." Ms. Jeong responded, giving Jenna a genuine smile back.
Jenna pulled out the white garden chair for Ms. Jeong, helping her settle before pouring tea into the elegant white teacup in front of her.
"Lovely and raised well." Ms. Jeong continued before taking a whiff. "My, what is that? It smells amazing."
