Silence. It was silent as the people around the table took in the words that were just said. The next sound Jaehyun heard was the sound of flesh on flesh, as Inhye flinched beside him, tearing up. Jaehyun looked up to see Mr. Park standing, his wife holding him back. Mr. Park had slapped Inhye on the cheek.
"You're a disgrace for a daughter." Mr. Park spat out. He eyed the Jeong's before giving them a slight bow.
"If you excuse us, we will be leaving now." Mr. Park said. The Jeong's stayed quiet as Mr. Park began dragging his wife out, leaving Inhye behind.
As the front door slam shut, Mr. Jeong ripped up the marriage contract before getting up. Jaehyun assumed his father was returning to his study. Jaehyun helped the girl who was bawling her eyes out on the ground.
"I did it." Inhye whispered through her tears. Jaehyun nodded.
"You did." Jaehyun said, slowly rubbing her back as she held her cheek, the red mark already turning purple. Jaehyun noticed his mother whisper something to a maid. A moment later, the maid returned with an ice pack in her hands.
"Jaehyun, take her home." His mother said, passing the ice pack the maid had given her to Jaehyun.
"Yes mother." Jaehyun said, passsing the ice pack to Inhye. Inhye politely bowed to Jaehyun's mother before leaving the house with Jaehyun.
"Where should I take you?" Jaehyun asked once the two settled in the car.
"Give me your phone, I'll put in the address." Inhye said. Jaehyun handed his phone to the girl. Once he got it back, he looked at the address.
"Is this his house?" Jaehyun asked. Inhye nodded.
It was quiet as Jaehyun drove, the only noise being the hum of the city.
"Will you be alright?" Jaehyun asked as they arrived at the address.
"Yeah, I'll be fine." Inhye said, returning the now melted ice pack.
"Thanks." Jaehyun said as Inhye opened the car door.
"A deal's a deal." Inhye said with a small smile before leaving. Jaehyun watched as Inhye rang the doorbell, the male model embracing the girl as soon as he saw her. He gave Jaehyun a thumbs up, signalling that Inhye was in safe hands.
Jaehyun ran his fingers through his hair before starting the car again. Before he pulled out, he noticed he got a text from his mother.
Mother
Stay at Jenna's. Don't come back for me. I'll be fine, your father has locked himself in the study.
Jaehyun sighed as he checked the time. As much as he wanted to see Jenna, it was time for him to head to the mansion. NCT had business tonight.
...
"How's living with Renjun and Jeno?" Jaehyun asked as he returned to the car after a sucessful drug deal.
"It's good. I have my own room so it's not that bad." Jaemin answered, starting the car.
"That's good to hear." Jaehyun said, turning the radio down as they heard Doyoung and Ten informing the members that the dealers had left the site.
"Hyung, something feels off." Jaemin suddenly said.
"What do you mean?" Jaehyun asked him.
"I feel like Mr. Park is awfully calm for someone that just got released from jail and got his business contract with the Jeong's cut off." Jaemin said.
"I mean we did cover up his money problem." Jaehyun pointed out.
"Yes, but he still had to pay a much bigger price than originally intended. I just feel like something is wrong." Jaemin said as he sped down the road.
