I could feel myself getting a little nervous. I need to focus on my quirk and what the best ways to use it are, without using too much of it. If I want to make it to the finals, I have to do my best. However I can't overuse my quirk in the first round and be tired throughout the rest of the festival.
Standing with everyone, we got ready to start the obstacle course. There were lights that were signaling when to start. They began counting down one by one. I close my eyes a take a deep breath. When I open my eyes. The last light went off we were off and Midnight shouted.
"BEGIN!"
We began running into a small tunnel. All the first years were shoving against one another. I felt like I couldn't breath.
I thought to myself, This is probably the first obstacle. They wanna see how we out of this. I have to get above everyone. Focus Shina, do what you did during train. I focused on making the steps. I made them so I was just above everyone. Some people tried to follow my steps but the energy would disappear because I didn't focus on them. I created a small pathway to run over the crowd of students. When I got out of the tunnel I saw that multiple people were frozen in place by Todoroki. Some people managed to avoid the attack. When I jump into the ice it was extremely slippery and I worked carefully to get across it. I see Bakugo blasting through the air as it were nothing. I focus a small amount of energy into my feet to help me slide on the ice easier. When I'm finally to the other side of the ice I begin running with other students. Getting to the next obstacle, I see that they are the zero point robots from the entrance exam. Todoroki freezes them with ease. Before people can run through them I notice that they are at an unbalanced angle. I see Kirishima running.
"Wait!!" I yell but the robots had fallen. I braced myself for the dust that followed.
A lot of students were waiting to see if anything was going to happen. Just then Kirishima popped out of the robot like a daisy. I smile. But right after a guy with silver hair did the exact same thing. I look at the robot and place energy at the bottom of my feet again. Here goes nothing. I think to myself.
I move a few feet back before sprinting and using the energy in my feet to propel myself forward, jumping over the robot. There were more robots that we need to fight in order to finished this obstacle. When face to face with a robot, I created a energy wall and threw them at the robots, causing them to be pushed out of the way crashing on the side of the pathway. The next obstacle was a little more challenging. We had to get across pieces of rope to get to different pieces of rock.
I put energy in my hands to make sure that I stay connected to the rope. I swing across the rope as if it were a huge monkey bar. I pulled myself across the rope to the other piece of rock this went on a few more times before actually completing the task. Running to the next and final obstacle I see everyone is walking carefully through the land mines.
Land Mine?!?! Are you kidding me? I begin walking carefully to try to get as close to the end so that I can make a path that I can run across. This is so I won't have to spend time avoiding the land mines. At the very front I can see Bakugo and Todoroki fighting while walking through the land mines. I look to my right to see Midoriya digging a hole in the minefield. He had a piece metal from the robots we fought earlier. What is he up to?
I keep walking through the land mines. Focus Shina, we can do this we are almost there.
Once I got to what looked like the middle I was about to make a pathway of energy to run across the field but, I heard a large boom sound. I protect myself from the blast in a shield bubble. What the hell was that? That blast was larger than the others.
Just then I see Midoriya flying through the air. He was using the piece of debris from the robot as a sled. I smiled. Midoriya ended up passing Todoroki and Bakugo that were in first place. I continued running, this time making a pathway for myself so I wouldn't have to watch out for the landmines anymore. After that I ran straight for the finish line. Once crossing over the finish line. I put my hands over my head and took a deep breath. When I looked up at the screens around the arena, I see that Midoriya came in at first. I look around for Bakugo, but he looks like he can't believe what just happen. Before I walk to Bakugo, I congratulate Midoriya for placing first.
"Good job Midoriya." I smile, giving him a thumbs up. He gives me a small smile before continuing to talk to Uraraka. I see Iida by the corner of my eye looking a bit distraught.
"Um.. Iida? You good?" I ask. This snaps him out of this thought.
"Oh, Yes. I'm fine." He gives me a fake smile.
I'm not buying it.
