I was about 10 years old when the case of my parents' murder had finally been closed. It was a mission gone wrong. They were chasing after a villain gang they'd been tracking for years. My parents had followed leads to what they thought would be their hideout, but no one knows what happened in the factory, just that there was a fire and Nova and Knightcall could not escape. No gang or killers were found, and their deaths were ruled as an accident. I was fuming in anger. I couldn't accept that there was no justice for my parents. They worked so hard to keep the streets safe, and then some low lives took them from me. Not on my watch.

It was a simple night at the Sumiyes. They were doing everything they could to help me have the smoothest transition from my home in Kozui City. But when my parent's case closed, so did my heart. I spent most of my time thinking about a way to find my parents' killers. Nights on nights I spent doing research that led me nowhere. My attitude to the Sumiyes wasn't nice either. I planned to sneak out and take a train to Kozui. I thought that is where I would find answers. However, I got into a huge fight with Ayako Sumiye during dinner. My grades were shit, my room was a mess, and I was being a brat. She told me she'd been too nice, but I couldn't keep shutting everyone out of my life. But what really hurt me was that she say my parents would be disappointed if they saw how I was acting. After that, It was a yelling match that went on for ages.

I screamed, "Why do you care? You're not my mom. If I'm such a hassle, get rid of me."

I went to my room and slammed the door. I cried for a little and thought about not going to Kozui, but I somehow managed to convince myself that it was the best course of action. I packed a bag and left a note on my bed. I climbed out the window and walked to the train station.

Mrs. Sumiye didn't like fighting with the girls, but she knew she couldn't go to bed without saying goodnight to Shina. When she went to Shina's room, horrified when Shina wasn't in bed, the only trace being a note that read.

"I'm sorry for not being the perfect daughter, but I need to know what happened to my parents. I'm heading to Kozui to find some answers. - Shina."

The note broke Mrs. Sumiye's heart. She told Mr. Sumiye, and they grabbed their car keys and ran out of the house, leaving Yasuko with the nanny.

Shina began her trip to the train station. As she walked, she felt a weird feeling in her gut. A group of men were following her. She began walking faster and faster out of fear. At one point, she felt herself running, but it was useless. The men had caught up with her. One of the men pulled her backpack, and another grabbed her suitcase. The last one grabbed the girl by her arms. Shina moved to get out of their grasp and used her quirk. She had little control over her quirk's raw power, so she created an energy shield to protect her, throwing the three men back. The three men fell unconscious after being hit by the blast. Shina cried as she ran away, finding a playground near her house. She wasn't sure what to do at this point. She wasn't sure she could go home after everything she said to Ayako. She cried on the playground, lost in thought.

The Sumiyes looked for Shina. They were tracking a microchip from Shina's backpack, which they put in for emergencies. They followed the GPS to a location 4 blocks from the train station. They found the backpack and three unconscious men, but no Shina. They called the police, and Daisuke stayed to watch the three men until the police arrived, as Ayako drove to continue looking for Shina. Driving three blocks away, she noticed a bright blue jacket on the swings, the same color as the one she bought Shina the Christmas before. She parked and called out to Shina. Shina recognized her voice instantly and sprinted to her. She cried in her warm embrace.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it. I'll never do it again. I'm so sorry," Shina cried.

"I know, I know. But Are you ok? Did anything happen?" Ayako comforted her daughter.

"I'm ok, but these guys stole my backpack and suitcase."

"Did they do anything else to you?" Ayako asked, holding the girl.

"No, I ran away. But- I think I hurt them badly." Shina sobbed.

"Shina, shhh. It's ok. You were so brave; because of you, some bad people are going where they belong." Ayako assured Shina.

Back at the location, the three men lay unconscious. Heroes and police arrived quickly. Apparently, there were multiple calls to that location. Shina's blast and screams alerted neighbors, who reported it to the police. The three men were placed in custody with multiple warrants for their arrest.

"After that, I went home with the Sumiyes. I spent years trying to make it up to them. I did everything I could to get my life back on track. I went to therapy for a few years. I built a strong relationship with my parents and sister. I threw away anything related to finding my parents' killers and just started living in the present".

"Wow- Shina, I-" Tanya had no words.

"You really don't have to say anything. It was a pretty stupid thing. I was really lucky that day. It could have ended a lot worse. I was so blinded by anger I could've been kidnapped or even killed. I don't want you to put yourself in that situation."

"I understand, Shina. I'm sorry."

"Just go to Hosu to be a hero, a wholesome-hearted hero. I know it's hard right now, but you have friends who care about you. You have people that love you." I smile.

Tenya fakes a smile. I changed the subject.

"Well, It's about three more hours until our stops. Anything you want to do? Or talk about, I don't wanna pressure you, but you don't really seem in the talking mood."

"I'm sorry, Shina, but it's just-"

"No need to explain. I understand."

Shina and Tenya both took out their laptops and began doing work. Although Shina's story moved Tenya, and he didn't want to disappoint her, his tunnel vision was already set. There was nothing stopping him from achieving his goal to avenge his brother and kill the hero killer, Stain. He watched as Shina put on a movie. She offered Tenya an earbud so they could watch it together, but he kindly declined. He was more interested in watching Shina giggle and smile at the movie. He smiled to himself. He didn't know what to think. Shina became vulnerable so that he could feel comfortable. Showing that she understood what he felt more than anyone else. He saw how empathetic Shina was. She would move heaven and earth for the people she cared about. Shina took a notebook from her bag when the movie finished and began drawing. She caught Tenya watching her.
