Tenya's Pov

How can I call myself a hero? My friends are risking their lives to protect me.

Shina was kneeling in front of me. She had just been hit by a blade that was aimed at me. She was breathing hard. She was still on high alert, but she'd been using her quirk for a long period of time, and now she was bleeding. I watched as her suit became soaked in blood.

Her mother's suit. Her parents hero names. She was someone ready and worthy of becoming a hero. I had questioned her attitude and personality when we began at U.A. I thought she was disrespectful, but she knew what needed to be done and who she needed to be. Yes, she worries about making her parents proud, but she never cares about what the world and hero society think of her. The rankings, her attitude, the politics of it all. She just wanted to help others. That's what I should have been doing all along. I took my brother's name so I could teach this criminal a lesson, and get revenge. I forgot what really mattered. That's what Shina was trying to help me see. I was too focused on myself; I couldn't help anyone else. As I think back on why my brother wanted to become a hero, it reminded me of Shina, and her motivations to be a hero. Like her parents, she was right. And I knew, I was just so blinded by anger, and now she is here. Putting her life on the line, for me us. I'm too immature. I could never hold a candle to her. And when I met her, I thought she was the immature one.

I watched Shina stand. She was still going. She was so weak, and yet she was determined. So strong, so passionate.

Third person pov

Todoroki used his flames and ice, but Stain dodged his attacks. Stain was dawning in closer. Shina moved without thinking. She used the energy stored in the back armor of her mother's suit, which was something Tenya barely noticed as she stood. She focused on creating a strong energy beam to send Stain flying backward, which worked, for a moment. The energy blast had hit Stain directly in the stomach, leaving him breathless for a second. But that was all of Shina's energy.

"I'm sorry, Ingenium," Shina whispered as she fell unconscious.

With no strength left in her body, she collapsed but didn't hit the ground.

"I'm sorry, Novaknight, I should have listened to you. I promise I will be someone worthy enough for you to call a hero." Tenya said as he held Shina in his arms, his injured arms. He ignored the pain he felt, in order to catch her. He didn't care about anything else besides making sure Shina was safe.

Stain paused. He watched as Tenya held Shina in his arms.

"Defense and Offense. Her quirk is a mix of her parents. An energy beam, like her mother? " Tenya set Shina down.

"NovaKnight, maybe be calm and collected and strong enough not to let her anger get the best of her in this situation. But you have no right speaking to her about her parents." Tenya tried to remain calm, but it was difficult.

"What, you want to get revenge for her parents now?" Stain taunted.

"No. But I will defeat you, and save my friends." Tenya stated. Shina wouldn't want him to get revenge for her. She was at peace about all that had happened and ready to move forward.

Stain was moving to attack Todoroki again when Tenya used his Recipro Burst. Tenya apologized to Todoroki and Midoriya for the trouble he caused, and the three boys teamed up to fight the hero killer. With one powerful kick by Tenya and a punch from Deku. The Hero Killer was defeated.

They restrained the hero killer and unarmed him of any blade.

"Shina?" Tenya called out to her. She was unresponsive.

"She'll be out for a while. She used her quirk for over 30 minutes straight with little to no rest. It was pretty impressive." Native stated.

Tenya's guilt set in. If he had just tried to save her and Native, maybe things would have been different, and his arms wouldn't be useless. He wanted so desperately to hold her. His eyes widened. Tenya wanted to hold her. He wanted to tell her everything would be alright. He wanted to tell her how sorry he was for being so blind. He compared her unconscious state to the sleep she had taken on the train ride over. The difference between a lifeless body and a peaceful one. He couldn't carry or help her in any way, which hurt him. He felt a pressure on his chest as he thought of how useless he was to her.

"I'll carry her," Native stated as he picked up Shina from the ground.

"I know this is off-topic, but is that a new suit?" Deku asked, embarrassed as he saw Shina's new suit.

"Yeah, it was her mother's," Native answered. Tenya got a better look at the cut on Shina's thigh. The suit was pink with a deep red stain on it.

"Is she going to be ok? That cut looks deep." Tenya had a worried tone in his voice.

"She won't bleed out. Once we get her to a hospital, she will be fine. She is pretty resilient." Native answered. They walked out of the alley.

Just then, some pro heroes joined us outside the alley. Tenya let out a few tears as he apologized to Todoroki and Midoriya.

"I'm sorry, and I only wish I could apologize to Shina. I should have saved her from the beginning. She would still be conscious. She wouldn't be injured. How will she ever forgive me." Tenya states.

"You, too, seem close. You refer to each other by first name." Todoroki says.

"I think she will forgive you. I think you have managed to become friends," Midoriya states.

I hope they are right. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have her in my life. Tenya thinks to himself.
