Chapter 45

"You knew my parents?" I asked.

"They were strong heroes who believed in community, in their community. They gave some of us hope. They never carried for superficial bullshit. Criminal activity under 2% when they were alive. Impressive."

Before I could reply, a flash of white armor moved to attack Stain. He countered with an attack of his own. Tenya had moved to attack the Hero Killer.

He was in such a wave of blind anger he didn't even notice me. He monologues about his brother.

"I will defeat you," Tenya said.

"So be it, die." Stain added.

Tenya tried to attack, but Stain managed to dodge it. In mid-air, Stain used a spike on his boots to stab Tenya in the arm. Slamming him to the ground.

"TENYA-" I yelled.

He finally looked at me, and our eyes met. Both are filled with horror.

"Shina..." He whispered.

"You are weak like him." Stained stated, referring to Tensei.

Stain stabbed Tenya in the arm with his long blade. He talked about his brother, and it broke my heart. "I-I'll kill you." I heard the distress in Tenya's voice.

"Shouldn't you be worried about saving them?" Stain motioned to me and Native.

"What do you think NovaKnight? What would your parents think of this guy."

"Leave him alone." I dropped my bubble briefly and used an energy wall to push Stain off Tenya. Stain dodged it, but with the space he gave Tenya, I could cover Tenya with a shield bubble.

"Shina... I can't move," Tenya said.

"OK, I'll figure it out." I didn't know how, but I would find a way to save Native and Tenya. I was a little frustrated that Tenya didn't listen to me, but I understood what he was going through. I just didn't want to see him hurt. And now here he was, lying on the ground, paralyzed. I had already sent a signal to Scorch and the agency, but if they were busy with the Nomus, it would be a while before they got here.

"What Novaknight? You don't want to help them get revenge either, aren't you friends?" Stain taunted.

"I didn't come here to fight. I came here to save my colleague. You are right. My quirk might weaken, but I will save these two heroes. So talk all you want, and I will save them." I said.

Tenya starred at Shina. He'd never heard her talk with such conviction. Such determination. Her words were strong and sharp. He felt so useless. Shina had no intention of fighting. Her quirk was used for defense. He saw Shina, with a different attitude, no sarcasm, no smart-ass remarks. She was serious and calm. Somehow, it was graceful and powerful at the same time.

"So you are Kishi's girl," Stain smirked.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"She was always stronger than your father. She had such a strong attitude, and spoke just like you." He stated.

"How do you know that? How-" I was curious, about how close he was with my parents.

"Shina don't listen to him-" Tenya states.

"I'm many things, but a liar isn't one of them." Stain stated.

My arm started to cramp. One knee falls to the ground. The bubble around Tenya started to weaken.

"Shin- NovaKnight, get Native and get out of here. This is between me and The-"

"No, I am not leaving you, Ingenium," I say.

"How noble, it's almost refreshing."

Scorch, how much longer until you get here? I think to myself. My vision began to blur.

"NovaKnight, if you keep this up, you won't be able to save either of us." Tenya managed to say.

"Novaknight, I'll let you walk away right here, right now. Let me have them."

"No, I don't care what you think about me, and I don't care if you knew my parents. I will not leave them. If I leave now, how can I call myself a hero!" I yell.

Just then, Midoriya came out of nowhere and attacked the hero killer, landing a punch.

"Don't worry, I'll save you." He said and then looked at us. "We need to get out of here."

"Iida can't move, and neither can Native. I can't just carry them out of here. I don't have enough strength in my quirk." I felt so weak I needed to try to think of a way to save them, but I had already used my quirk for a while. I didn't have the strength to engulf us all in a bubble and take us out of there.

Then Deku tried to fight Stain by getting in close and trying to negate his blades. Then he froze.

"You may be worthy of staying alive like MiniNova," Stain told Deku.

His words took me by surprise. "It's NovaKnight-" I corrected him, but my vision was faded.

Just then, I felt a warmth. Todoroki had managed to find us. He fought the hero killer and managed not to get cut. Midoryia got out of being paralyzed. We figured out that it was because of the type of blood that Stain would digest. Midoriya and Todoroki create a plan and begin to fight the hero killer. They were doing well, but with Todoroki using his fire, my weak shields had finally broken. I fell to the ground.

What can I do? My quirk shields are weak because of Todoroki's heat. A blade was thrown at Tenya as soon as my shields fell. My body moved before I used my quirk. The blade cut my thigh. "Shit-" I grit my teeth.

"Shina!" Tenya said.

"I'm fine." I breathe out. Then Midoriya was cut and paralyzed by Stain's quirk again.
