-The Iida Household- Third Pov
It had been a few days since the Stain incident and a few days since Tenya and Shina had almost kissed. He had just come back from his evening run before dinner. He thought that his runs would clear his mind, but it did the opposite. Tenya just found himself thinking about Shina even more. He didn't have the courage to text her or call her. He didn't even know what he would say to her. She ran out of the room right after they almost kissed. He thought that he had done something wrong or that he had made her uncomfortable. He thought he had completely misread the situation. He cared for Shina, and up to this point, he thought that it was only as a friend. But at that moment, he became confused about his own feelings. It's not like it would be a bad thing to have romantic feelings for Shina. He thought highly of her now. Her strength, wit, determination. Not to mention how beautiful he thought she was. But he didn't want to rush into something and scare her away. Which is exactly what he thought happened when she ran away. He buried his face into his hands as the moment replayed in his mind.
We were so close- I- She didn't lean away from me.
After his run, Tenya showered and changed. He lay on his bed reading a book before being called for dinner. He walked downstairs where his parents and brother were.
His Brother, Tensei, had been home with them a few days before Tenya went to Hosu. Tenya felt a small lingering guilt from seeing his brother Tensei. There was small talk within the family. They were just happy that both of their son were alive. There was a possibility for Tensei to walk again, with surgery and physical therapy, but it was very slim. Tenya's thoughts still drifted in and out of the conversation. Tensei took notice of this. He says that his brother didn't seem as fully into the conversation as everyone else. Actually, he noticed that since he got back from Hosu, Tenya had been acting a little weird. Tensei assumed it had something to do with seeing Stain. He was partially right.
After dinner, Tenya helped his parents pick up the table.
"Tenya, do you think you could help me with something," Tensei yelled from the other room.
"Of course," Tenya said, rushing to his brother's room, "How can I be of assistance?"
"I don't actually need help, I just wanted to talk to you."
"Oh. Then why didn't you say that?" Tenya asked, confused.
"So that you don't panic by me saying, 'I need to talk to you.'" Tensei answered.
"Ohh, then what did you want to talk about?" Tenya asked.
"Well, first have a seat." Tensei motioned to his bed, and Tenya sat. "Now, what's on your mind?"
"I'm sorry?"
"Tenya, you seem like you have a lot on your mind. You seem pretty checked off during dinner, and I want to make sure that you are doing ok."
"Oh. I'm ok."
"Are you sure? You know you can talk to me? I'm your big brother, after all."
Tenya paused. He had been so lost in thought, but talking to someone about what happened might help him understand what to do next.
"Well, something did happen- well, technically, nothing happened, but it was something that almost happened," Tenya explained poorly.
"Ok.. go on."
Tenya sighed, "Well, I, um, I almost kissed my friend. And I'm just so confused because I thought she might have wanted to kiss me as well, but when another friend interrupted us. Well, she practically ran away. I thought, maybe I did something wrong." Tenya stated with a small blush.
Tensei's face lit up. Did he hear his brother correctly? Did he almost kiss someone? Tensei felt a sense of joy hearing his brother trust him with this information.
"Why are you smiling?"
"Huh, oh uh, no reason. But enough about me. Well, when you were about to kiss, did she seem like she was pulling away?"
"To my understanding, no. We were both leaning toward each other."
"Right, so it would've been mutual?"
"Correct?"
"Well, I can't answer for her, but have you tried reaching out to talk to her."
Tenya sighed, "I thought about it, but I don't even know what I would say to her."
"Well, tell her how you feel."
"Well, thats the issue, brother. I don't know how I feel. We've been through so much together, and I- I don't understand what I feel. I don't know what to do."
Tensei looked at his brother, who was clearly having an existential crisis.
"Do you want to acknowledge the kiss?"
"Yes."
"Good. Do you think that kissing her would've been a mistake?"
Tenya paused. "No"
"Then say that. Acknowledge the kiss and that it wouldn't be a mistake. But also explain that you don't understand your feelings towards her. Just be honest, Tenya. I'm sure she's in the same boat as you."
"What do you mean?"
"She probably doesn't know how she feels either. That might be why she ran away. If you talk to her and are honest you think she'll be less than understanding?" Tensei asked.
