Jayden's POVA week later, things were gradually falling back into place. It'd never be the same again, but at least we were together. This entire kidnapping thing really pulled the Casellas and the Monteros together. Closer than ever.
I had just released a press statement together with Dad, Flavia, Layton and Lisa. It was basically about Kyra's health, Trevor's trial and how we were handling the situation. A couple of questions were asked and we answered quite well. We had the situation under control.
Kyra was yet to be discharged from the hospital the following morning. She was doing way much better than the first few days she was in the Intensive Care Unit.
Her treatment was progressing well and it was the best. She had to sit in a wheelchair until her knee was in a good condition. They had carried out a minor surgery on it and multiple tests on her whole body.
Her physical state was better than her emotional state. She was traumatised. The experience was horrible for her and it taunted her. She was going through therapy sessions with a professional counsellor.
She found it really hard to open up, but we all stood by her and gave her all the time and space she needed.
I hadn't gotten a chance to talk to her in private, hold her hand or anything of that sort. She needed to rest and focus on her health. I'd just distract her, so I had to be patient.
Flavia stood by her daughter throughout the entire process. She was with her in every session. Lisa and Layton also played their role as her siblings. I knew they had problems in the past but the love they showed her overshadowed whatever might have gone wrong in the past.
My own health was improving. After I hyperventilated a week back, I started paying more attention to my health. Dad was conscious about it too. He stood by me as usual.
I was sitting on a bench in the private ward Kyra was in. I didn't want to get close to her room. I'd only end up thinking of going in there and gushing out everything I felt about the entire situation.
Recalling the day I finally had her in my arms gave me mixed feelings. I was happy I had her back, but the condition she was in broke my heart. He beat her up. He kissed her. He touched her.
I'd have killed him if he had had sex with her. The last thing I wanted was for Kyra to be afraid of ever exploring all her sexual fantasies peacefully with painful memories holding her back.
She was probably afraid of being touched. The way she narrated her story reflected all the pain she had gone through and how much she detested everything that had happened. She was very emotional.
I felt guilty. Taking care of her was my duty. I had failed her. All I hoped for was another chance to prove myself. Of course I had already asked for many chances before, but this time around I was asking for a chance as the man who had feelings for her and wanted to get to know her better.
"Deep in thought as usual," Nick remarked, putting his hand on my shoulder.
Being a doctor gave him an advantage of seeing Kyra whenever he wanted to. He was like the closest to her in this situation. I trusted him as a friend, but regarding Kyra, I was beginning to get overly protective.
"It's the boring new normal," Kyle added joining me on the bench. They both sat on either side of me.
"Come on, Jay. Why aren't you visiting Kyra like everyone else is? She asks about you every time. You only want to see her when she's sleeping. She wants to talk to you. What's wrong?" Nick asked, squeezing my shoulder gently.
