13. jealousy

The weekend passed by way too quickly for their liking. But Adeline had to admit stepping out to enjoy some fresh air wasn't too bad.

Adam said he'd go visit his family today so they stood up together this morning and he drove her again. Her body felt somewhat limp after that weekend but in moments in which she missed him, the feeling was nice. It gave her something to smile about.

In Adeline's break between her work at the company and uni, she went home. Not really having been spending too much time there lately. And she wasn't sure if Nora did either. It could be possible that their whole apartment was burned down and none of them even noticed.

As she arrived upstairs, she was surprised to see Nora. She was launching in front of the tv and seemed excited.

"Hey, love! How nice of you to show up!" She said sarcastically but Adeline knew there still was some true joy in it. Weekdays must be terrible for her not being able to hang out with someone.

"Hmm...actually surprised to see you too!" Adeline said grinning.

"So you and Adam..." Nora implied.

"And you and Jim?"

"Yeah, I mean yeah we- we are spending our nights, I guess." She answered just as sly and it was good to see her like that.

Adeline had wanted them to be together since forever. They were like Ross and Rachel always wanting one another but never really getting there. So it was nice to hear that they'd be entering any kind of relationship.

"Oh my god! That's great...but you're not exclusive yet?"

"Not yet, it's fine though...wait does that mean you and Adam...?"

Adeline only grinned as an answer.

"Oh wow...the sex must be amazing if you're exclusive after only one week!"

"Oh, I don't kiss and tell. Besides I just wanted to stop by quickly, I gotta go soon" Adeline said and just for a quick passing moment she thought of her encounter with Dylan. Perhaps she should've talked it over with her but a slight feeling of shame overtook the young woman every time her mind replayed the memories. Plus she was way too engulfed in Adam to be still  busying her mind with him.

"No, no don't leave just yet! My unemployment makes me lonely..."  Nora said, reaching out her hands to stop her friend from leaving.

Adeline kissed her on top of her head and said: "Have to, I'm sorry. I'm coming back home tonight tough, Adam's staying at his family's house tonight.

"At least a tiny bit of relief than." Nora growned.

"I like your outfit! Must be nice to be wearing real clothes.."She added as Adeline packed her stuff for the lecture.

"Oh...thanks babe!" Adeline wore a pair of black mom-jeans with one of Adam's way too expansive hoodies that was really just black and looked oversized on her. Actually one could only really like it if they solely like the color black. Whatever, it was a dark phase in her life, Adeline thought.

The week passed by quickly. And for Adeline it was really just a circle of full filling her duties  by day and spending her time with Adam by night. Not a bad one at all, in her opinion, but it was Friday and they'd be going out with their friends again tonight so she was looking forward to it.
