Adeline was on her way to her Family in Bristol. The 2 hour car ride took a bit of a toll on her as it seemed to develop into a 3 and still somewhat hour journey having been stuck in traffic for too long now. She was tired as she left London early, not wanting to arrive too late. With only a bag of Jelly Babies on her passenger seat to keep her company. Instead of a handsome man, which she was sure would her mum pity again and again.
None the less she was excited to see her parents again and get a bit of a distraction from her boring every day life.

The last week was a bit weird for her. As she was exhausted, trying to get essays done for her Uni courses last minute because she didn't start writing soon enough. It was probably the payback for not doing anything the week before because she was sad. Or the week before that because she was spending all her time with Adam. Not that she was  happy this week but it just had to be done even if she felt angry. She didn't know when they'd see each other again. Or if they'd ever even do.

Arriving around twelve in front of her childhood home, her mother stormed out of her childhood home, eager to see her daughter again. Leslie's shoulder long red hair blowing in the wind, that she also gave Adeline.

"Darling! It's so nice to see you, I missed you so much!" Leslie said and hugged her tightly.

"Hey mum, I missed you too!" Adeline said grinning.

"Come in love, lunch is ready, you must be starving."

"A bit yeah, the ride took way longer than expected."

As she went into the house she greeted her Dad as well and eventually they sat down on to eat. The long table was filled with too much food to eat but her mum always went all out. What concerned her though, was the bottle of red wine on the table. Perhaps it's just a special occasion thing, she thought. Or only for dad?

"So honey, how is life treating you lately? Any guy on your side?" Jack asked her daughter, before she could procede her dangerous thoughts. Adeline already rolled her eyes at the question.

"I- no." Adeline said sadly.  "But uni I am doing very well in uni my adviser said, and the internship is great too!" She knew they only meant well but it was annoying to her at the moment and so she tried to distract them with more positive news.

"I'm sorry honey, I know you are very successful I'm just worried, you live alone in such a big city." Her dad said.

"I do not live alone, I live with Nora, dad. I can do things on my own." Adeline answered.

"We know that honey, you have to understand it's our job we're your parents."  Her mom said justifying her dads worry.

"Yeah, I know mum" There was a bit of silence for a while as they ate and it was delicious.

"So...is there someone?" Leslie asked her daughter carefully again.

"No, no...I actually just broke up with someone."

"Oh honey, I'm sorry. Why's that?"

"Well jealousy -and the fact that he traveled to the other side of the world to shoot a damn movie...It's okay though." Adeline said sadly looking down onto her plate.

"What does he do for a living?" Jack asked.

"He's an actor."

"Oh they never do good money anyway, you can do better."

"Yeah." Adeline  said and laughed a bit, pushing a strand of her long her behind her ear as it was a nervous habit. They haven't talked for a week and now she actually doubted that he was real about staying friends, which made her sad.
