"Good morning--" Sumire greeted as she opened the door to the Mouri Detective Agency, immediately getting interrupted as the teenage ravenette pulled her inside - which almost have her let go of the four heavy paper bags she have with her. She almost stumble upon nothing because of her sprained knee that is supported by a knee brace - one of the two things not going well with her choice of outfit, wincing in slight pain when she accidentally gripped on the door's knob with her left hand that is covered by bandages. She felt as if her bone as well as the muscles in her wrist tears at the sudden action but her condition remained a mystery to Ran as she unknowledgely pulled her towards the sofa. It was just then she noticed her brother, Detective Mouri and his 'number one' apprentice inside as well.
"Ah! Sumire-san, why are you here?" Ran nervously asked, feeling a lot more awkward than ever in the woman's presence after her last conversation with her following after her rejection with the brunette's brother. She fidget around nervously with her head hanging down low in fear of the actress' boldness.
Sumire just sighed and brought her opened palm forward as though expecting Ran to know exactly what she meant, confusing everyone in the room. The ravenette looked at her father for help when Sumire's burning gaze never left her even once after a few seconds, fear creeping up on her. The FBI agent sighed once again before finally speaking up, though it doesn't calm Ran any bit as the woman's eyes still firmly remains on her.
"Do you perhaps still have the key Shin-chan gave you?" Sumire questioned, only receiving a shook of her head as an answer from Ran. She retrieved her hand and quickly averted her eyes away from the teen girl, ready to sit up from the sofa.
"Where did you leave it this time?" Mouri Kogoro questioned, facepalming himself with his desk as this kind of thing always happens to her anyways. It's not that really much of a deal when you knew the brunette since childhood that she's a rather forgetful lady unlike her younger brother. Though the former police officer now turned private detective actually felt thankful for her memory loss seventeen years ago, his thoughts being that now the brunette wouldn't have to continue to suffer in the present with something from the past. That is his thoughts now but it would be a whole lot different if he found out that Sumire already remember everything, from each punch to each time a blade made contact with her skin.
"In my apartment in America... I kinda rushed here to Japan. Gotta deliver some papers to a collaborator." Sumire sighed, avoiding to gaze upon the light blue orbs she learned to love and visualize as the deep blue ocean. It's like at the moment, they are two sets of magnets that are desperately trying to repel each other. A drive they know too well forcing them to avoid each other like one another have the plague, causing an unsettling tension to surround the room they're in.
"Where's your parents?" Detective Mouri continued to question further as Ran walked to stand next to her father by the desk, not really reading the situation in the room. He then gawked at the newspaper at his hands when he finally got into the horse race gambling section, immediately almost forgeting about the existance of all the other people in the room. The brunette chuckled half heartedly before leaning backwards into the sofa, crossing her thighs as her gaze burned into her former mentor's soul.
"Somewhere they didn't tell me anything about. As for Subaru-kun, he's out in a school trip."
"But don't you have your own house in Ginza?" Conan spoke up with an awkward smile, sensing how his sister is about to lose her composure and snap at the older man. Almost all the stuff that comes out of her mouth, it's lies and indirect answers through and through as always and he hated it. A trait he never liked about his older sister ever since she came to visit after her first two years in America. A trait she mastered even more unknowingly when Arthur entered into the bureau.
