Will something be different?
It won't be something like that
But this day will be over
When the minute and second hands overlap
The world holds its breath for a little while
Zero O'Clock
_______________________The sun was up high in the clear sky... The water glistening because of the blinding lights provided by the only star that could be seen near the planet by the naked eye. The sand was as bright as ever, too hot for some of those who somehow forgot to bring sandals for themselves.
Kids love walking along the beach, looking for shells that the waves cast up while most of the adults are either swimming or just enjoying the view from their spots on the sand.
"Ran, Sumi-neechan is here now!" A seven year old Shinichi exclaimed, pointing to the brunette dressed in a black bikini with a cropped white and black jacket draped on her shoulders. A black sunglasses hiding her eyes from the sun that radiates heat and light, that completes the look. Her long brown hair which was styled in a typical high ponytail swayed along with the soft breeze, revealing the thin scar that she received years ago from the organization as she make her way towards the two first graders who are seemingly in a talk with a family of four.
"Shin-chan... Ran-chan... Where's Oka-san?" Sumire questioned, not seeing the other brunette anywhere near the two children. She scanned the four people her brother and his friend is talking too with a calculating gaze before it finally fell upon those green eyes that stirs the same way her own does. She sighed before averting her gaze back into her brother who's laughing nervously, already giving her the idea that the two are lost.
"...We don't know." Ran replied, looking down in guilt even though it wasn't exactly her fault in fear of what will the brunette that she only met twice before do but Sumire just smiled sweetly at her before flicking Shinichi's forehead lightly.
Shinichi whined in protest, which the brunette ignored as she removed the sunglasses covering her bright cobalt blue eyes before looking around the sandy shore for their mother. After Shinichi finally noticed his sister's stoic expression, he spoke in such neutral tone he usually use to speak to Sumire in attempt to imitate professionalism.
"Sumi-neechan, did you meet up with Otou-san at the hotel already?" Shinichi asked, staring up at Sumire.
"Yeah, but I need to talk with Oka-san about me going to America and stuff. She's pretty much still refusing to let me go because of my safety unlike Otou-san when I talked with them on the phone yesterday." Sumire smiled half-heartedly in bitterness, her gaze falling upon those same green eyes from before. Covered by sunglasses, it hides away the look he's giving the brunette.
"Is studying in America really that dangerous? Is that prestigious school really worth it? Couldn't you just refuse their scouting?" Shinichi questioned, making a small geniune smile of sorrow to appear on Sumire's face as she crouched down to look at his brother's eyes before pulling him into a loose embrace. The playing-detective first grader tried to look at his sister in confusion but the seventeen year old graduate only pulled away, the expression that lingers on her face and eyes just a moment already faded away.
"FBI Academy is what you're going to, Sumire-san. Isn't it?" Ran asked in confirmation, catching the attention of the family who have not yet to introduce themselves to the brunette.
"Yes, but you two need to know not to talk about me going there just like that in public. Is that clear?" Sumire stated as she tood up with the two children nodding in understanding, though the confuse expression on their faces remain still.
