"So you're telling me that only three people from that hideout have codenames?" Sumire asked in English - as she removed her bulletproof vest and other protective gears from her body - after hearing one of her subordinate's report.
"Yes, Miss." Her subordinate replied, a guilty look on his face.
"Better than nothing then. Do what you gotta do." She ordered after whispering the first sentence under her breath, watching as the male bowed to her first before following the rest of the agents - who are busy guiding the defeated members of organization towards the vehicle that will bring them to a questioning facility.
Hurriedly, she made her way towards the airport where Kaito and the shrunkened chemist in her true age form - who is disguised as one of the agents of the bureau as it's still dangerious even if they'll be using a private plane that is owned by the company Sumire modeled for the day they arrived in America.
Sighing, she lightly touched the wound she got on her forearm when a bullet - from one of the members who revealed their codename to be Absinthe - accidentally grazed on her during the raid.
"Are you okay, Sumire-san?" Shiho asked when the now black haired agent - who single-handedly dyed her hair to natural black color in the hotel's bathroom in the middle of the night after her pictorial for a role she'll be doing in a bit in between her missions to recreate reason for her to travel too much - when she comfortably sat on the private plane's first class cushioned seats.
"Of course. Anyways, you still gave my brother a few pills despitw telling them no, aren't you?" Sumire asked with a content microscopic smile, sighing a bit in relief once she felt her tense muscles finally relaxed after the long open fire raid earlier.
"You know how he is." Shiho replied, the annoyance written all over her face despite the mask covering her true facial features as her mind recalls the moment when she texted him all the rules the shrunkened detective have to follow and only receive multiple 'k' as a reply. She's starting to regret giving in even after her Higo strap looked like it literally barely survive at some kind of war with an organization or something.
"To be honest, I'm actually thankful that my brother turned seven years old again as evil and selfish that might sound like. I hope I didn't made you upset by my selfish opinion." Sumire said in her usual tone as she closed her eyes in attempt to rest even just for a little bit as the plane started to decend off the ground. Finding it hard to form the correct words based on her emotions instead of her logical thinking.
"I missed out a lot on his life and I never got to redeem myself to him because of the nature of my profession. I deeply regret leaving him and my parents but it had to be done at the time. I know that I sound like I'm only trying to reason for my absense but I meant that I want to actually be there for him." Sumire continued, opening her eyes once again before deciding to avert her eyes towards the window, the city where they stayed for getting smaller as seconds pass by. Being comfortable enough with the eighteen year old chemist to reveal her feelings that she buried deep inside of her in order to do what Vermouth told her.
"...I also have someone I wanna be there for but he's way out of my reach and the last person who held that spot is now gone from this cruel world." Shiho opened up, causing the look on Sumire's face softened as she got informed by Shinichi that Shiho have an older sister that died at the hands of the organization.
"Shiho-chan, give yourself a chance to pick yourself up piece by piece and love yourself for being strong for so long. After that, give yourself a chance to have someone who will stay by your side... For you have the same look in your eyes that I had ten years ago when you look at him... It's not worth to lose the battle to your own happiness to protect the temporary state of the present. If you do, you will have regrets like I do." Sumire stated in a much gentler tone than her usual as she recalled a certain black haired male who just got married a few days ago now but not that the auburn headed chemist actually care about her tone as the words that slipped from her lips resonates deep within her closed off heart.
