Part 13

Vanessa: Heru- where are you?

Heru: I am over here Vanessa. I will catch up with you. Just keep going.

Vanessa runs towards one of the small cottages of Viyeru. The monster hunter sees a shadow fly over past the house and move into a tiny window. Voices of the kids in the town rise in the night.

Vanessa: The children's screams are getting louder! What is troubling them?

Heru: I hope we are not too late. We have to stop the creature of the night from bringing terrors to these children.

Vanessa: How are we supposed to do that?

Heru: By using the one thing that dark creatures hate- Light.

Vanessa: I have some light beam torches, and other brightness emitting gadgets.

Heru: Excellent. Do not worry about dealing with the monster. This one is mine.

Vanessa noticed that Heru's eyes glowed with a bright golden colour. His skin was glowing too. What was Heru turning into? She watched in awe as Heru's entire body started to stretch. Then soon before her very eyes in a blinding light there was her friend Heru standing before her now as a dragon.

Heru: Vanessa- let's get going.

Vanessa: Oh, yeah. Why didn't you ever tell me that you're a Dragon?

Heru: You just happened to be around when I had to turn into one. Otherwise- I did not see it necessary to tell you.

Vanessa: Well, okay. I guess it was just my luck that I was around to see you in your true form.

Heru: That will not be the only surprise of the night. (He said in a whisper).

Vanessa: What was that Heru?

Heru: Enough chit-chat. The kids are in grave danger.

Vanessa kicked down the door of the little cottage. She threw one of her light beams in the room. The creature that tried to grab the child from her bed tried to escape through the window, but it was came in conatct with Heru.

Keru: (Sighs) I did not expect to bump into you tonight Heru.

Heru: Keru, stop this madness at once. Why are you doing this?

Vanessa: Um, (Clears throat) Heru?

Keru: (Smiles) You must be the monster hunter.

Vanessa: You must be the monster- obviously.

Keru: You don't know who I am to Heru?

Vanessa: A problem.

Heru: A big one in fact.

Keru: Yes, actually much more than that. I am his brother.

Heru: Step-brother Keru. Thank goodness.

Vanessa: Oh. So, you think that's going to stop me from doing my job. Ha!

Keru: Heru is here to help me. (He says as he pleads for mercy & then laughs).

Heru: I am done helping you Keru.

Vanessa threw all the light beams she had in her hand. They landed right beside Keru's body. He picked one of the light beams up and right at that moment they all went off. The room was filled with dark and grey matter everywhere.

Heru transformed back into his human form. He looked around the room. It looked like Vanessa's work here was done.

In the cottage of Viyeru, a young child slept peacefully

A dark winged creature floated by

in the air near the child-

The monster chuckled as it found a new host.....
