The trees in the woods all seemed to be lamenting. Their branches drooped in a grieving motion. Vanessa felt like she could feel a sad emotion coming from the trees. What causes them to be in such a state? She tried to find out why from Caeth, but he was focused on getting closer to Svrok's location.

Vanessa: Are we almost there?

Caeth: Sshhh. Not yet. Let's not make too much noise.

Vanessa: I was only asking a question. Sheesh.

Caeth stopped in his tracks and placed both of his hands on Vanessa's shoulders.

Caeth: I have your back. I don't want Svrok to hurt you. So, you're going to have to have more faith in me. Now, let's get going. By the way, Svrok's place is not too far from here. We're almost there.

Vanessa took a deep breath and nodded her head. She walked more carefully & quietly. She believed that Caeth would protect her. She just wasn't going to let him fight Svrok all by himself. She was the Monster Hunter after all.

Caeth pointed at a small cabin near the river. Vanessa asked what the plan was. Caeth told her to wait outside. He was going to have a little chat with Svrok.

Vanessa folded her arms across her chest. This was unbelievable. She wasn't going to sit around and wait for the two beings to chat. The Monster Hunter approached the cabin. She moved towards the open window. Vanessa listened to the conversation from a section that she couldn't be spotted. She bent her head below the window's frame. She did her best to resist the urge to take a peek of Caeth with Svrok.

Caeth: (Smiles) Svrok, I like what you have done with the cabin.

Svrok: (Snarls) Where is she?

Caeth: Who..?

Svrok: (Growls) Do not play games with me Caeth. You know exactly who I'm talking about.

Caeth: Well, knowing her— she must be hiding somewhere, or she could be right behind you.

Svrok turned around and almost lost control of his human form.

Caeth: (Gasps) Eh, calm down Svrok. She hasn't done anything wrong. Now- take it easy.

Svrok glared at Caeth with fiery eyes. Vanessa wondered what was going on. The moment she looked through the window, she saw Svrok's hands. They changed from human palms to a beast's hands. Caeth spotted her. He shook his head slowly. He didn't want her to do anything. If Svrok got his hands on her he most likely would end up hurting Vanessa...or worse- killing her.

Vanessa sat back down on the ground. But then she sat on a branch, and the sound of the branch snapping alerted Svrok that there was an intruder. Caeth moved towards Svrok. It was too late. Svrok had moved so fast, and leaped through the window. Ms. Helsing was startled at seeing Svrok right before her own eyes.

The Monster Hunter ducked in time as Svrok reached to grab her head. Vanessa bent her head and reached for her sword. She swung with all her might. Svrok jumped back, and landed like on all fours. Caeth came rushing to Vanessa's side. Svrok laughed and shook his head.

'You're not going to hurt her,' Caeth said, and in a short while he was in his beast form too.

As Svrok got to his feet, Vanessa held her sword tightly, and leaped in the air. She swung her blade at Svrok's chest. Svrok growled at Vanessa. Caeth ran with full speed and sunk his jaws in Svrok's neck. Svrok couldn't handle all this pain. Caeth let go of Svrok's neck.

Vanessa: Look. He's changing back into his human form.

Caeth snarled at Svrok. Svrok's eyes had become green again. The bright fiery glare was gone.

Vanessa: Wow. Is he still alive?

Caeth bent down and transformed back to his human form. He checked Svrok's wrist, and neck for any signs of life. There was no pulse. But Svrok could have been only knocked out.

Vanessa: What are we going to do with him?

****************************

Svrok felt a lot of pain all over his body. He felt like he was nearly dead. He slowly opened his eyes and looked around him. That Monster Hunter was still alive.

Caeth: Svrok. Don't worry. You're in good hands.

Svrok: (softly and almost a whisper) You should have let me die.

Caeth: Come on. There's no need for that. Besides, you still have to apologize to Vanessa. You should even thank her for not killing you.

Vanessa: There's no need for that. (She ties ropes around Svrok's hands, and feet).

Caeth: Er, if you say so Vanessa. Anyway, I'm sure the pack will keep an eye on him here. Voru will be the one in charge of keeping guard over Svrok.

Vanessa: Really? Why don't you do it?

Caeth: What? No. No. Uh. That's not my job.

A young kid walks up to the group. Caeth smiles at the child.

Voru: (clears throat) Caeth...what task have I been given?

Caeth: (Chuckles) You're going to keep a close eye on Svrok. You and the rest of the pack. Got it?

Voru: (nods his head) Got it.

Vanessa: (stares at Voru) Caeth, he's a baby.

Caeth: (Laughs) Vanessa. Darling. He's stronger than he looks. Do not worry.

Vanessa: Every time I hear you say that it makes me worry much more. (Sighs).

Caeth: See you later Voru. Vanessa and I have to get going.

Vanessa: We do?

Caeth: Yeah.

Vanessa: But we just got here. Can we at least take a short break here?

Caeth: (Smiles) Anything for you dear.

Vanessa: (Laughs) Thank you.
