Part 16

Heru: What's the plan Nessa?

Vanessa: We can wait and see where Keru strikes next.

Heru: I don't know if that's really a good idea.

Vanessa: (raises her hands) Fine. Why don't you come up with a better one?

Heru: This is what I think we should do.

Vanessa: (rolls her eyes).

Heru: (snaps his fingers) Hey, could you pay attention to my plan, please.

Vanessa: I'm listening. Sheesh!

Heru pulls out a map and places pins on all the areas that his brother has covered. 1. The local cottages and

2. Grand ol' Cemetery.

Vanessa: Okay. So these are the places he has covered so far.

Heru: Right. Now judging from this pattern- it looks like he might head to the winged horses area of the town.

Vanessa: Why would be be heading in that direction?

Heru: I think I know why. Come on. Let's try to get there before he does.

Kamdin: Easy girl. Breathe. I won't hurt you. Shhh.

Heru: I see you still have a soft spot for horses.

Kamdin: These are extra special horses. Not quite common Heru. Good to see you.

Heru: Good to see you too. Kamdin- this is Vanessa.

Kamdin: Well, hello Vanessa.

Heru: (clears throat) She's a monster hunter.

Vanessa: (smiles) Yes. But I don't think you're a monster. I mean...you seem friendly.

Kamdin: (winks) Don't worry. I don't bite.

Heru: We are here because we need your help.

Kamdin: With what exactly?

Heru: Keru.

Kamdin's welcoming expression changed to panic.

Vanessa: Heru believes that he might be coming here soon.

Kamdin: What? Seriously? I will not let him harm anyone, or even the horses. He is going to have to deal with me first.

Kamdin placed her hands around her horse's neck. She gave it a hug.

Vanessa: You can rest assured that Heru and I will be by your side.

Heru: Yep. No doubt about that.

Later in the day, the bright sky started turning dark. Soon there were puddles everywhere. There were loud sounds coming from the sky and clouds like someone was beating a drum. In the distance a shadow was approaching.

Heru: He's here.

Kamdin raised her hand and a bolt of lightning came down. It struck her & her horse.

Vanessa was shocked. Kamdin and her horse were completely unharmed.

The horse and Kamdin were both glowing from the lightning charge. Their bodies shone like polished gold.

Keru gracefully landed on the ground. He glanced at his brother and his ensemble of warriors. Then he smiled showing all his razor sharp teeth.

Heru came charging towards his brother. Keru quickly went into shadow form. Heru changed into a Dragon and blasted ice at his brother. All the cold blasts didn't work. Keru moved so fast and dodged every blast.

Vanessa: Kamdin- time for action.

Kamdin mounted her horse. Vanessa pulled out her shadow light blaster.

Heru aimed once more at Keru. This time he got hit at the end of his tail. He fell to the ground and tried to shake off the ice. While he focused on his tail, he didn't even notice that Vanessa was in range to blast him.

The monster hunter steadied her hand & blasted a light beam right at Keru. Keru felt a light energy wave coming towards him. He reacted in time and was back in the air in no time.

Kamdin: No! The blast hit the ice instead.

Vanessa watched in amazement as Kamdin went soaring through the air. The winged horse glided so magnificently. It's wings moved with such great form.

Keru: My dear Kamdin. I need one of your horses. You see- they will make me stronger.

Kamdin: You have to get through me first.

Heru changed back to his human form and stood beside Vanessa.

Vanessa: I wish I could ride a horse or fly one like Kamdin.

Heru: It's a family tradition. They are the keepers and caretakers of these horses.

Vanessa: Wow.

Kamdin raised her hand and directed a bolt of lightning towards Keru. He was struck right to his cruel heart. Keru lost some of his power. He spun in the air, and crashed onto the ground. His body needed an energy boost. He looked in fright as his claws were no longer there. His entire body was back to it's human form.

Heru: I think you will love having this new charm with you.

Vanessa watched as Heru placed a charm around Keru's neck. Keru tried changing into a shadow- and nothing happened. Even his easiest transformation into a dragon failed to take place.

Heru: Your tricks aren't going to work for now. Vanessa thank you for your help.

Vanessa: (smiles) Sure. I hope your brother can stick to a less destructive life.

Heru: I hope so too.

Kamdin: (glares at Keru) Don't you even try thinking about doing this again.

Keru: I had a feeling you were going to be a challenge. I didn't expect my brother to actually come warn you. I'm impressed Heru.

Heru: Oh, shut up!

Vanessa: I guess- all's well that ends well.

Kamdin: If you say so.
