Part 36

The tavern was busy that night. Many folks were there to celebrate the work they had completed. It had been such a great harvest season. The crops were healthy, and even the market deals ran smoothly this year. Clinks of metal cups could be heard just from the closest path to the Kaff tavern. The crowd burst into laughter.

They were having such a joyous time.

After a short while, the doors of the tavern burst wide open~ letting in a cool breeze. Everyone turned to see who it was. They did not recognize the stranger. She was dressed in a thick-black overcoat. They stared at her. She was definitely a passerby, or a traveler.

The young lady walked to the bar and ordered an Amarula Gold. The bartender filled a carafe with ice and added the liquor, orange juice, ginger beer, and lemonade. Then added cucumber, orange and lemon slices, the berries, and mint sprigs. The Amarula Gold was stirred well and poured into a chilled glass.

The lady took her favorite beverage in steady sips. She carefully scanned the tavern. Ah, she soon found who she was looking for. She gulped the remainder of the drink. And approached another mysterious looking stranger.

Caeth: (bows his head) What brings you here, Madame Lilly?

Lilly: (smiles) Oh, just passing through really. (gently) I wanted to check on Svrok, too. I hope he's all right.

Caeth: (nervously) Well, -hmm. He's getting there.

Lilly: (gasps) Oh. Do you mind taking me to see him?

Caeth: I don't mind at all. I can take you to him right this instant.

Lilly: (smiles) Thank you, Caeth. And if you don't mind~ how is the Monster Hunter dealing with her new home?

Caeth: Hah! (chuckles) She is actually doing better than I expected.

Lilly: Interesting. I would have thought that she'd have either left because of Svrok, or you know...taken care of him. (Laughs)

Caeth shook his head. Oh, this was going to be a long night. He had a feeling that things were going to get a little bit more complicated, now that Lilly was around. Uh, he loved his mother~ but sometimes she had a way of getting involved in his affairs like they were her own. Dad at least did his best to just stay out of it.
