Ever since that night, Jenny felt sick to her stomach. Why wouldn't she? She just killed a man with her own hands and was just supposed to deal with it as if nothing happened. Her attempts at explaining the situation with the others didn't go well either. She told the whole truth, unable to make an excuse. A few people left, and her attempts to get them to stay just raised suspicions even more. It hit almost everyone like a truck, the fact that Asher was dead. He had always been around no matter what, and within just one night he was buried under broken and charred wood. His body probably looked the same. The thought of it just made her even sicker.
All that happened recently had taken an effect on her physically as well, it got so bad she was throwing up everything she put in her system. Eren and Corey had been a huge help with support, they hadn't left, like a few others. They just asked for a bit of proof about the curse, as soon as she was feeling better, which she was more than willing to provide, she just never seemed to be getting better at all. She was feverish too, and hadn't left the cabin a whole lot either. Charlotte checked up on her a few times, and said it was due to all the stress. But she couldn't help but think it was more than that. Something was really, really wrong, she could feel it.
Even more time passed, a month in fact, and the throwing up had stopped, but she still felt really sick and exhausted, both mentally and physically. She was leaning against the cabin wall with Eren and Christine on the other side of the room.
"Charlotte said she knew a lot of medical stuff, but I still feel like shit and it's been a while since everything happened. Jesus... I don't think it's because of stress anymore... I mean, it's still there, but I don't think I've ever been sick this long." she didn't want to come off whining, but couldn't exactly help herself.
"Well... you did have to take on three people dying in a really short amount of time. Maybe it's all just catching up to you." Christine suggested. "You did say you were feeling a little better, right?"
"Yeah, I mean the puking's stopped. I don't really know how to explain it, I just feel awful."
"Jen, you burnt down a building with a person inside. It makes sense." Eren had been brutally honest since the fire, and chose when they wanted to comfort her, and when they wanted to rub it in her face. She couldn't exactly blame them, though, she did kill the guy who accepted both of them into this place with no issue, and they had known him longer than most people here.
"Yeah, don't remind me."
"She has cried a lot since then, especially when she was really sick. So I think she's let a lot of it go mentally, which doesn't explain why she's still physically sick." Christine advised her partner. Eren was about to say something else before the cabin door opened, and all three of them turned their heads over. They were expecting Corey, but it was Charlotte. Jenny wanted to sigh, she was tired of these constant check-ups. But it wasn't going away, so anything to get help.
After the church burnt down and Asher died, the adherents stopped wearing their veils most of the time. They never really explained why, but her best guess was that they didn't have anything to hide anymore. So they might as well let everyone see them once in a while. Charlotte seemed to be recovering okay, she didn't talk for the first few days, but the light was coming back into her eyes.
"Hello, you three. Jenny, any changes?" she asked, closing the door behind her. Jenny shrugged.
"Not really. Same old headaches, I'm really drained too, other than that, nothing."
Charlotte had a lot on her mind, she could tell. As she walked closer to the three of them, it was obvious she was deeply concerned.
"So... I'm guessing this is all from the fire, still?"
