Kaden asked for me to sleep at his house that night.
I knew it was for the best if I came home, but I wanted to be near him, so I agreed. I called Jonathan and told him I was going to stay at Will's house, since my brother still hadn't gotten over the fact that Kaden wasn't bad news, especially after the things he found out about him. So I texted my best friend asking for him to cover for me, which he said he would.
We had dinner after we spent some time only laughing at each other in his room, since he had made a lot of food for us. I was shocked at Kaden's cook skills. The salmon was really good, just like the chocolate cake. I questioned him a bunch of times if he was fooling me and if he had actually bought everything, but he insisted he was the one who cooked it and accused me of underestimating him.
I told him I wasn't underestimating him, I just found it weird how he was good at absolutely everything. Then he told me he was actually pretty bad at any board games and photography, what is ironic because he lied to me in the past saying he took photography classes.
After we had dinner, I helped Kaden clean everything up, since he had decorated the whole living room with candles and he was afraid a fire could happen in the house while we slept.
We were currently at the kitchen as my boyfriend was finishing doing the dishes while I was drying the plates and putting them back in the cabinet where they belonged.
"You know what we should do now?" Kaden asked.
"What?"
"Watch a horror movie"
My eyes widened and I turned to Kaden with an incredulous look. He had a mischievous smile lingering on his lips.
"I can't, I'm terrified of horror movies" I protested.
"That's the whole point!" He exclaimed "That's why they're called horror movies"
"No, but Kaden, I can't sleep whenever I watch one. I keep awake searching for spirits or monsters in my room, I swear I even see things, and then I have nightmares" I told him, but he seemed unbothered.
"But you'll sleep with me tonight" He said "I can stay awake searching for the spirits and monsters for you" He proposed with a hint of mocking in his voice "I won't let anything bad happen to you, I promise. You're safe with me"
I narrowed my eyes at him.
"I don't know if you'll be able to protect me from the spirits"
"What do you mean?!" He feigned indignation "I live for protecting you, baby"
"Fine" I sighed "But only because you cooked a really good salmon"
Kaden clapped once and smiled triumphantly. He told me he would pick a movie that wasn't too scary, but I grew suspicious when I saw the name of the movie he had picked. "The Exorcism of Emily Rose". Kaden argued that it was a classic and I had to watch it.
He lent me an oversized shirt he had for me to sleep so I wouldn't wrinkle my shirt. So I laid down on his bed wearing my boxers and his shirt as he wore only his boxers. Kaden laid down by my side and put a blanket over us.
As soon as Kaden pressed play, I already snuggled closer to him. I put my head over his chest and hugged him with one arm as the other held the blanket tightly close to my eyes, so I could just cover them if I didn't want to see something.
"Babe, the movie barely began" He noted with a chuckle.
"I know, but I'm scared" I replied.
"Of what, exactly?" He laughed.
