TW: Use of homophobic slur
***Third person
When Jack said he needed to show the guys something, Jonathan would never expect that it was a picture of his little brother being kissed by a boy. Not only being kissed by a boy, but apparently enjoying it.
He could only stare at the picture for a few moments, letting that information in his brain. Ethan had never talked to him about matters of his sexuality or any boys in general. Much for the contrary, Ethan already had been with a lot of girls, and used to tell his brother all about it, looking excited and very much straight.
But when Jonathan stopped to think about it, Ethan had acted a lot different this year. First of all, it all began with his depression. He broke down several times for reasons he refused to share with Jonathan. And then, he changed his way of acting. Less laughs, less small talks, and, honestly, he was less stupid and less immature.
Together with his change of personality, Ethan had stopped kissing girls. He didn't talk about one single girl the whole year. He was even reluctant about going out with Leah, and she was a sweet and pretty girl. So it made sense that Ethan was kissing a boy in this picture.
It made even more sense when Jonathan looked at who was kissing him. All he could see is that the boy had black hair. And then his mind travelled back to all the times Kaden was around his brother before he broke down; all the times Ethan defended Kaden, claiming he was a good person; all the times Ethan showed to be close friends with Jack's cousin. With that, Jonathan was sure: Kaden was the guy kissing his brother.
Despite how quickly he was able to put the pieces together, he was still confused. After all, it was a lot to take in. He had a lot of questions to ask, and he had forgotten for a moment about the context that made him discover his brother's sexuality.
But it didn't take long for him to remember exactly who did that. His brows dragged together as his lips twisted in an angry grimace when he realized that Jack had just exposed his little brother in front of the whole football team.
The situation got even worse when Ethan started to cry, and then left the locker room in a hurry. With that, Jonathan felt so much anger rise inside him that he wasn't able to control it anymore.
"How dare you out my brother?" He looked up from his phone to fixate his fuming eyes on Jack; he spoke really slowly and lowly, as a way of controlling himself for him not to break Jack's face there and in that moment.
"Oh, Jonathan" Jack let out a humourless laugh "I know it must be hard having a faggot in the family. If I were you, I would also be pis-"
Jonathan didn't let Jack finish his sentence as his fist met Jack's chin, sending him falling on the floor.
"If you say that slur one more goddamn time, I swear to fucking God it'll be the last thing you ever say" Jonathan warned him, stepping closer as a way of daring his teammate to use that word again.
"What slur?" Jack asked; defiant "Fag-"
That was enough. Jonathan didn't want to control his anger anymore. He had tried to be civilized in the behalf of the team, but he couldn't care about football when Jack had messed with his family. When Jonathan was mad, he felt like he was unleashing hell inside of himself, so he tried his best to stay calm and not lose his patience. It usually worked. But he didn't want it to work anymore. He wanted to beat Jack until his face got unrecognizable.
So he leant down to where Jack was still at the floor, still wearing that sick smirk, and he punched him one more time, the hardest he could. He hit his nose, because he knew it was the place in his face that would hurt the most. Satisfaction invaded Jonathan when blood started to drip down Jack's face.
