"Jonathan, I don't know if this is a good idea..." I trailed.

We had just arrived the coffee my brother invited our father to come have breakfast with us before school. I could see him, sitting in a corner and looking through the menu while waiting for us. I turned my head so he wouldn't see me, probably because in my mind I could still run away if I wanted to. If I needed to.

"Do you want to stay at Kaden's house forever?" Jonathan contradicted.

I sighed, finally giving in and following my brother till where my dad waited for us. Being with Kaden was great. His mom treated me well, like I was part of the family. His sister was very sweet, and even his brother was being nice to me now. Plus, I got to have sex every night before going to sleep. So yeah, it was more than great. But I couldn't live in their house forever. After all, it's was their house, their family, not mine. I needed mine.

"Boys!" Dad looked up from the menu and smiled once we arrived "How are you? Sit down, c'mon, let's eat"

"Hi dad" Jonathan and I said at the same time, though Jonathan's voice sounded way more confident than mine.

"How was your trip?" My brother settled for asking.

"It was great, actually" He said "We got to organize our plans to next sells and closed some really big deals. How was school?" He asked while alternating his gaze between Jonathan and I.

"I broke up with my girlfriend" My brother announced first, saving me from saying anything at all.

My jaw dropped. Jonathan hadn't told me that. And it was even more surprising that he was telling in a cheerful tone what technically was a bad news.

"Shit, Jonathan" Dad blinked in surprise "I didn't think you'd ever tell this news that way... Why did you break up with her?"

"She was homophobic" I almost choked with my own saliva when Jonathan simply said the truth, as if it was no big deal.

Dad raised his eyebrows, once again surprised. Then he dragged them together, cleared his throat, opened his mouth, closed his mouth, cleared his throat again, to finally say:

"Good"

"Good?" He asked.

"Yeah" He nodded "You sound happy with the breakup, so, good. It's important for us to know what kind of person we want to have around us as we grow old"

"Yeah" Jonathan said "I couldn't agree more"

"What about you, Ethan?" Dad turned to me.

"Me?" Was the word that immediately left my mouth "I... I didn't break up with a girlfriend" I awkwardly laughed, Jonathan sending me a 'are you serious?' gaze.

"No, you have to get a girlfriend in order to break up with her" Dad said, causing my brother to laugh at my face.

I kicked his leg under the table in response, what made him stop laughing instantly and hiss in pain.

"So, dad..." I took a deep breath, preparing myself. I was planning on letting it out quickly, like ripping off a bandaid, but turns out what left my mouth was "What do you feel about gay people?"

Jonathan sent me the 'are you serious?' face again, but I ignored him as I looked at my dad. He pursed his lips and tilted his head in a thoughtful expression.

"You mean what I feel about being gay?" He questioned "'Cause the question you asked me is impossible to answer... what do I feel about gay people... I mean, Neil Patrick Harris is great, but James Charles..." Dad grimaced.
