Chapter 37 The Babies Part 1

Luke's POV

Tomorrow is the babies' due date! "Honey, are you feeling ok?" I ask Jordyn. "Babe, for the last time, I'm fine! The due date isn't until tomorrow! You don't have to worry we are doing everything right." She reassures me. "Ooh! Ow ow! Nope not ok!" She whines and I help her off the chair she was sitting on. "Do you need to go the the hospital?" I ask. "Oh my gosh my water just broke! Get the bag I'll be in the car!" She yells at me and starts heading for the door. I hustle upstairs and grab the bag. "Hey, where's the fire?" Calum asks holding Sarah's hand. "Jordyn's water broke!" I scream and run after Jordyn. "WHAT?!" I hear them scream and I hear them shuffle around just as I close the door. I know they'll meet us at the hospital. I hop into the car and step on it! I speed through the road whizzing past every car and honking at stop signs. "Five minutes left, honey, and then we'll be there." I tell her and squeeze her hand. "Luke, labor can take days! We don't have to put our lives on the line to get there!" She says but I don't slow down. "Better safe than sorry!" I say and speed up even more. We teach the hospital in less than 10 minutes. "That's gotta be a record!" I say smiling. "Yah a jail record! You're lucky we didn't get pulled over." Jordyn remarks and I help her get to the front desk. "Excuse me, I'm sorta kinda in labor here so if I could get a wheel chair and some assistance that would be nice." Jordyn barks. "Well absolutely! And I'm sorry I know you must be uncomfortable and in a lot of pain." The nurse says. "Get. the. doctor. NOW!" Jordyn snaps and then starts crying. "Honey are you okay?" I ask. "It hurts! I just want it over with! One kid I thought I could handle but two! Aaah! Ooh ow ow!!" She moans and the nurse leads us to a room and tells us the doctor will be there in just a minute. "Hey! How are you doing?" Sarah says slipping inside the room. "Oh Sarah! I'm glad your here! I need drugs! Go flirt with the doctor and see if he has any!" Jordyn whines. "Jordyn you're not thinking straight! It's just the pain." She says and then I notice something. "Oh what do you know? You're not a doctor!" Jordyn moans. "Uh, Jo..." I say. "I wanted to surprise you! I've always wanted to be a doctor so I've been studying and working really hard and now...I'm gonna deliver your babies!" Sarah cheers and Jordyn and Sarah giggle and celebrate. "I'm glad it's you and not a stranger!" Jordyn says happily. "Well I'll have to have a supervisor but I'll be doing most of the work." Sarah adds and then gets to work checking on Jordyn. "Okay you aren't that far along but you are getting there! It's gonna be a while but you're right about one thing...I have the drugs. If you want a pain reliever I can give you a little but an overdose will hurt the babies so just a little bit if you'd like." Sarah informs us. "Whatever it is I'll take it!" Jordyn says and Sarah injects her with a shot. "Better?" She asks. "Much." Jordyn says. Sarah leaves the room and I turn to face Jordyn. "Hey, how are you doing?" I ask cautiously. "I'm fine! But like Sarah said it's gonna be a while so if you need to do anything or make any calls you can do so." She tells me and I nod and leave the room as well so I can call my parents, Jordyn's parents, my manager to tell him I'll be late to the meeting tomorrow, and a few other people.

I hang up on my manager in the middle of screams and swearing. My final call is a big one. I wasn't sure I'd even try this number but I know that they are important to Jordyn so I'll call them anyway. "Hey guys, listen, Jordyn is having the twins! She doesn't know I've called you but it'd mean a lot if you could come down to visit! I know she misses both of you! Ok, thanks, see you soon." I say and hang up the phone. I know it'll please Jordyn to know that I called some of the most important people in her life. I know she misses them.
