Expectations

As I think about everything you want me to be

I find myself wondering why I want to be me

with all of this pressure to lead to some success

and with this pressure I want to live up too but yet I digress

that while I cant be on this pressure filled trip

through all of my life to be more than a bip

on the radar of wider society

just a cog in the mechanism with a lack of variety

another unrecognized piece to be exploited

nothing more than a pawn to never be vindicated

of the guilt shared collectively amongst us all

for allowing our species to fall

for not inspiring any change from age old policies

full of self obsessed politicians fallacies

but what can the few do to inspire change to the many

what can anyone really do when we

allow for the repression of nations

and the ravaging of habitats with deforestation

do you honestly care about any of these issues

are you crying into any forest friendly tissues?

would you add your voice to a protest

of those that still state west is best

is this to be a legacy we leave

a planet that we have left bereaved
