A Last Good-Bye

My world is crashing down around me

as all of my past refuses to leave be

with a sharp pain running down

and a rush as I hear a familiar sound

I remember our last encounter

thinking about how I wouldn't be able to last without her

watching her drive away

with no I love you to say

No words of comfort to keep it at bay

just a see you soon, a hug, a kiss

just a single moment of unrivaled bliss

but it was just one moment

and after that came the ever present torment

and from there drifting began

the likes that only distance can

create and then maintain

leaving you going insane in constant pain

wishing for a day that will never come

living in a self made slum

until we arrive with the release of goodbyes

and moments of sorrow fall from tired eyes

for the end of it had arrived

for the love had not survived
