*Katara POV*

Toph opens the door, but gently this time. She can be really nice when she knows someone needs it.
"How ya feeling Sugar Queen? Think you can head back to school tomorrow?" She asks.
"I think I can. It's not like Jet will be there," I say.
"Yup. We should get to bed so we're awake for school," She yawns. Once she kicks her shoes off, she falls back into bed and falls asleep. I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow.

When I wake up, Toph is digging through her drawer. Nebula's alarm hasn't gone off yet and we need to get going, so I wake them up.
"This one feels good. Katara is this a shirt or pants?" Toph holds up a pair of purple sweatpants.
"Pants. And they're purple,"
"I don't care what colour they are. Is this a shirt?" She holds up a red crop top.
"Shirt. It's a crop top though,"
"A crop top? Nice. I haven't worn this yet,"
"Your outfit might look a little weird," Nebula says.
"I'm blind. No one is going to judge me for wearing clothes that don't match,"
"Good point," I say. Once Toph gets into her clothes and is wearing her converse, we head out. I run right into a girl. She's wearing all pink and her hair is in a high braid. Beside her is a gloomy girl with dark makeup.
"Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to run into you! My name is Ty Lee, and this is Mai. We're new here!" The pink girl says.
"Hi, I'm Katara. We'd stay and chat, but we have to get to class,"
"Hi, guys...." I hear Zuko say. "Mai? Ty Lee? I thought you guys weren't coming for another 3 months,"
"We weren't but Azula said we should come early. Are these your pitiful friends?" The gloomy girl says.
"Hey, why is everyone stopped? Sokka, stop eating for two minutes," Aang walks up behind Zuko with Sokka in tow.
"It's not important. Let's go guys," Zuko says while turning on his heel.
"You did this to yourself Zuko. It's not my fault you cheated,"
"Leaving. You didn't have to tell Azula," Zuko says while dragging Aang and Sokka.
"Alright, lily livers. Let's go. I don't want to be late for class," Toph says while pushing Mai and Ty Lee to the sides of the hall so we can go through.

We get to class and Toph sits next to Aang. Her teachers said she had to have a guide for all of her classes, so she decided to go with Aang. He's not really guiding her, they just hang out. They have all of their class together anyways. Sometimes Aang has to read for her because the teachers don't provide braille, but other than that it's nothing. The geography teacher is unfortunately one of the teachers that don't use Braille.
"Alright students. You need to read this passage. Aang read for Toph," The teacher, Mr. Long Feng says. He's hardly at school after his class because he has two jobs. He only works here because he needs the experience for his other job. He's the head of the Dai Li. Toph groans.
"Why can't he give out Braille for me. It's much easier than listening to Twinkle Toes read,"
"What's wrong with my reading?"
"Nothing, it's just easier to use Braille,"
"That's fair. We should get to reading though,"
"Read away Narrator,"
"Another nickname?"
"We hang out a lot. I need one for class,"
"Whatever," He mutters under his breath and starts reading. He raises his hand.
"Yes, Aang?" Long Feng asks.
"There are pictures in this article. What am I supposed to do?"
"Describe them," Seriously? That isn't easy.
"Uhhh. Okay then. There's a horse? And it's eating grass in a field," He continues to struggle through describing the picture. We all have this class together except for Sokka, Zuko and Suki. But we all equally hate this teacher. Aang's told me his English teacher makes him read too, but there aren't any maps or pictures. Mr. Tyro is a good teacher. His son Haru goes here.
"Is there a caption?" Toph asks lazily.
"YEs," Aang's voice cracks when he realizes.
"Read it,"
"Yes ma'am," He's bright red.

I have waterbending with Master Pakku next. It took me forever to get him to actually teach me. He's a sexist jerk. Sadly, he's the only waterbending teacher here, other than Hama, who teaches healing. She's not a bad teacher, but I already know how to heal. I walk in and start doing the warm-ups.
"Hello, class. In three months, we'll be getting a new student. The Avatar. I will not be giving him any special treatment, and none of you will be getting any special treatment," Pakku says when the bell rings. I raise my hand.
"What if the Avatar is a girl?"
"Then she will have to find another teacher," Ugh, I hate him, but he's the best teacher. Whatever, I'm not arguing with him. I follow the instructions he gives and I quickly master the move. No praise. Satoshi gets praise for mastering step one. Screw you Pakku. I show him the move. "It's done. You may spend the rest of class practicing," Fuck off. I grip my mother's necklace. Give me the strength to not whip him. I continue practicing.

After class, I head for the door. Pakky hovers over the spot I was standing.
"How did this get here? I carved this years ago," He's holding my necklace.
"Give that back. It's mine," I snatch it out of his hands and storm off. I don't care about his story.
"Katara wait. I should have realized your relation to Kanna sooner,"
"How the hell do you know my Gran Gran's name?" I whip around.
"We were engaged. I haven't seen her in years,"
"She probably left because your traditions are broken," I say and leave. He's been cruel to me, I just returned the favour. I have math next. I should get going. I accidentally run into Aang. He looks exhausted.
"Hi, Katara. I should watch where I'm going," He smiles weakly.
"Are you okay? There are massive bags under your eyes,"
"Wait, you can see them. Crap. I have to get going. See you Katara!" What the heck? I don't have time to worry about that. Pakku almost made me late for math.

I hear whispering in the back of the class.
"I know he skips a lot, but he hasn't answered any of my texts. Maybe we should ask Katara. They are dating," They're talking about Jet. Crap. A short guy walks up to me. His nickname is the Duke, so everyone calls him that.
"Hi, Katara. Do you know why Jet isn't at school today?" He asks.
"Because he's in jail," I reply coldly.
"What did he do this time?"
"I'm not talking about it," I don't want to hear his name ever again. He's a dick and I hate him. I don't say that out loud, but I wish I did. Lunchtime. I guess I'll sit with Toph and friends. (Toph is the leader now. I don't care)
