As much as I love you, I fear for the worst
You cannot keep me
(you should not love me)
because I’m like the wind.
I’ll kiss the coral of your smile;
I’ll fill your lungs
and trace their darkest recesses -
I’ll pool across your ribs
and anchor you to the sea
that is carried upon my lips.
I will wash across your mind
and discover the hidden treasures,
and I, with the will of a siren,
will selfishly keep them.
I will embrace your heart
with the light of morning suns
and slumbering twilights;
I will carry to your lips stardust,
just to give you a taste of the universe.
And when the tide calls me home,
I will pull you under with me,
and you'll drown,
But I will leave,
(always, always leave)
and all you will have left
is the taste of salt on your tongue.
