Chapter 23

Katniss P.O.V.

It's been two months since the birth of Matthew. Now we don't call him Matthew anymore though. Since Riley gave him the nickname Matty, that's all we call him. It's like we actually named him Matty. Like we forget what he's actual name is.

But I don't really mind it, I think Matty is a really cute name for our boy. He's growing like a tree. He's not the same little baby I pushed out of me two months ago, now he's a bigger baby. But so cute. He's just started to sleep through the nights. Thankfully. Peeta and I really started to get tired of waking up at night.

Peeta's standing in the kitchen right now, cooking for the two of us and the twins. Breakfast is their favorite meal because they know that they get pancakes. And they are crazy about Peeta's pancakes, almost as crazy as I am in his cheese buns.

I'm currently walking into the kitchen with Matty eating breakfast from my breast.

Peeta watches as I walk in.

"It's unfair", he says.

"What is?" I ask.

"That Matty get to spend so much time with your breasts and not me", he says, which makes me laugh.

"Are we getting jealous?" I ask sitting down.

"Absolutely, I wanna plaaaayyy with them but Matty is hogging them all the time", he says pretending to be jealous.

"Aww don't be jealous sweetheart", I say. "When I've stopped breastfeeding they're all yours again".

Peeta walks up to me with a smile.

"Can't wait", he says and gives me a loving kiss.

He kisses Matty on his forehead before he continues with the cooking.

When Matty is full I start rocking him. He falls straight asleep.

Peeta is smiling from where he's cooking when he's looking at us. I smile back at him. My handsome husband with a lot of qualities.

Peeta's phone starts calling. He reaches over to grab it. He answers the phone, still smiling at me.

"Peeta Mellark", he answers.

And in the matter of a split second, Peeta's whole face changes. From looking like the happiest man, smiling at me and Matty, he looks like someone has struck a stone in his face.

I know that face. Oh no.

"Yes sir", he says and I feel how my stomach is starting to turn inside out.

This can't be happening.

"Yes sir", Peeta says again. "Okay sir, I understand sir. Yes sir!"

And he hangs up. He looks at me. His face is all white. He doesn't have to say anything.

I put sleeping Matty in his baby seat before I walk up to Peeta and just wrap my arms around his upper body. Placing my head onto his chest, fighting the tears that are threatening to flow out of my eyes.

Peeta wraps his arms around me and holds me tight to his body. I keep my eyes closed hard.

"When?" I ask.

"I have to be at the airport in two hours", he says.

So soon? Oh no.

Peeta lets go of me to walk up to our room. He has to change into his army suit.

I take Matty's baby seat and walk up the stairs. I walk into Matty's nursery and put him down in his cradle before I walk into mine and Peeta's room. When I walk into the room Peeta is just done dressing in his military suit.
