20: Tadashi Yamaguchi - The Popular Captain

Warning! This is evolves into an angst, but of course has a super happy ending!

 I had been with Tadashi for four years now, having fell for him when we were back in middle school. He was so shy, sweet and absolutely adorable that it was impossible for me not to fall for him, but despite my usually quite confident nature I was having difficulty finding a way to confess to him. After all, I didn't want to overwhelm him but finally in our third year of middle school I confessed. It was fair to say he was shocked when I told him, but he admitted that he had had feelings for me too making me feel incredibly elated.

Everyone around us told us that Tadashi and I were the perfect couple. Even Tsukki admitted that Tadashi being with me had brought a little more confidence to the usually timid boy. I was there for him at every single one of his volleyball matches and saw his amazing growth as a player and a person. I gave him plenty of support when he was learning how to perfectly execute jump-floaters, and I adored seeing how he went from being borderline terrified to step on the court to desperately wanting to go on and serve.

"Tadashi you were amazing!" I cried out after Karasuno's match with Aoba Johsai, in which my boyfriend scored them five points in a row. I ran up to him and practically jumped into his arms, holding him tightly. "Your serves were incredible! I told you you were amazing didn't I?" I beamed excitedly, looking into his olive eyes with a beaming smile on my face. "You looked so cool!"

"Thanks (y/n)," he mumbled, blushing a little but I just beamed brightly.

"And you're through the finals! You'll get to the nationals in no time," I winked. "You just knock them dead with more of your amazing jump-floaters and you'll win this!"

"You really think so?" He asked somewhat nervously.

"Of course I do!" I gave him a quick peck, not wanting to embarrass him too much in front of his team, but I did hold hands with him until they were back at their bus. Thankfully as they had an extra seat I was allowed to ride with them back to Karasuno, so Tadashi, Tsukki and I sat at the back, Tadashi gently falling asleep on my shoulder. I kissed his head through his hair and couldn't stop smiling at my boyfriends win.

After their win against Shiratorizawa was the first time Tadashi and I had been truly intimate. As we were both of consenting age I had been eager to try and initiate sex, but I knew he'd be a little worried about it. After their win however he didn't seem nervous at all, and I thought maybe it was the adrenaline from the win that was keeping him going. The first time for most couples are awkward, but for Tadashi and I it was perfect.

From that point on, whenever we were alone we got up to particular mischief. Even when we weren't alone we were up to something as it was an immense step in our relationship. I somehow loved him even more, and both of our parents teased us, planning our wedding already as they repeatedly told us we were the perfect couple.

His improvement in volleyball, getting through to the nationals, doing well academically at school and our latest step up in our relationship helped him gain more and more confidence. Karasuno had become a powerhouse school and went to the nationals again. The team were getting more and more popular, and by extension so was my boyfriend. Seeing people, particularly girls, talk and flirt with my boyfriend sparked up a protective side of me that I didn't know existed.

It annoyingly became a regular thing, especially when, in third year, Tadashi became the captain of the team. I was so happy for him and we celebrated in the only way we knew how, and I felt incredibly satisfied when we walked through the school hand in hand as it showed all of the girls that the captain of the volleyball team was mine. Still, that didn't stop some of them, and not only that but my boyfriend didn't seem to stop any of them when they came over and started flirting with him, practically knocking me out of the way.
