It's been hard without Hazel. Very Hard. Everyone's so gloomy. I wish everything could go back to normal. Like before. When we were all happy when Hazel was there.

March 9, 1998

I was cleaning up after lunch when I noticed an owl on the mailbox. I walked briskly over to the mailbox and as I did, the owl flew away. I was guessing there was something inside the mailbox and I was guessing right! I picked up the brown paper letter and walked back into the house. I opened it and I was slightly wrong! It was a howler;

"Dear Miss Allen, Mr. Berkshire, and Mr. Zabini, We request you to be part of the Malfoy's Wizarding ball on March 10, beginning at 6 pm at the infamous Malfoy Manor We hope to see you there. Sincerely yours, The Malfoy Family"

"Oh okay," I said. I was a bit startled.

"What's that?" Blaise asked as he walked down the stairs.

"It's an invitation," I said. "The Malfoy's have invited us to the Malfoy Wizarding ball"

"Draco told me about those" Blaise said. "It's very formal and only of-age are allowed"

"Of-age?" I said.

"Like over seventeen," Enzo said as he walked into the room.

"Oh," Blaise and I said in unison.

"So can we go?" I asked.

"Are you crazy?" Enzo spat. "It's at Draco's house"

"So?" Blaise said.

"Deatheater Mansion, you-know-who's house or something," Enzo said. "And worst of all, My mother"

"Well she's not the wors-" Blaise said before I cut him off.

"Please?" I begged. "We haven't been out of Manchester for like 8 months"

"No! End of discussion" Enzo screamed. He stormed out of the room and I was disappointed. But he had a very great point. Our safety would be gone. Literally, we could be dead in seconds. But I really wanted to go! Anyone in my situation would want to go! I mean being stuck in this house is so frustrating.

Memories with my mom, Aunty Dora, Hazel they're all here. In this house, In my head, In my broken heart.

I ran to Enzo's room and swung the door open. Enzo, sitting there with his hands on his face.

"Hi," I said as I sat beside him.

"Sorry for raising my voice," Enzo said.

"It's okay," I said. "I'm sorry for arguing with you. I just wanted a distraction from everything that's going in our lives right now"

"I was thinking and maybe we can go but we'll have protection spells on us and we have to stick together," Enzo said.

"What?" I said. "No no no You're Enzo! You're not supposed to agree with me!" I giggled.

"I'm only doing this for you," He said as he pecked my lips.

"I'm so excited but I'm going to go through my mom's old dresses and maybe I'll find something," I said excitedly. "And maybe I can find something of my dad's for you and Blaise"

"Okay," Enzo chuckled. I ran out of the room and began rummaging through the old dressers in my room.

After hours, literally hours, of searching I found something! First off, I found my dad's old tuxes and shoes in one of the dressers. But in the other dresser, I found a beautiful black dress. Apparently, it was my mom's dress for when she went to the Malfoy Ball. I had never seen something more beautiful.

"Hey what're you doing?" Blaise said as he and Enzo walked in and jumped onto my bed.

"Well since we are going to the ball tomorrow, I went through my parent's old clothes and found stuff for each of us," I said as I showed them their tuxes but not my dress. I wanted that to be a surprise.

"This is great but what are you going to wear?" Enzo said as he aligned the tux with his body in front of my mirror.

"Maybe this'll fit," I said as I helped her put on the clothes. They didn't fit perfectly but they looked okay. "Are you comfortable in that?" She nodded her head and admired herself in the mirror as I chuckled. It was adorable. She held my hand and I took her downstairs.

"Jade," Blaise said. I snapped out of the memory of Hazel and me. "What are you wearing?"

"Oh um that's a surprise" I smirked. "You'll see tomorrow"

Today! Today was the ball! The minute I woke up, I started preparing. I ate my breakfast and then went upstairs to shower. I washed my hair as well and then stepped out of the shower. A few months back, I found my mom's old hair curler set so I decided to put some hair curlers in my hair. I looked hilarious but I didn't mind. I went downstairs to prepare lunch. Yes, lunch! Getting the hair curlers in was a very big challenge.

I made sandwiches and placed them on the table.

"Boys" I screamed. they came downstairs with weird faces.

"What's on your head?" Blaise asked.

"They're for my hair," I said as I ate.

"Well, what does it do?" Enzo asked.

"It curls my hair," I said.

"Ohhh," They both said in unison. I got up, put my plate in the sink, washed it, and then ran upstairs. I put on music, turned on the A.C, and began getting ready. I started with putting my dress on a hanger and then placing it on a hook on my wall.

I glanced at the wall clock outside my room. 3:23 p.m. It's three! I didn't even realize! I started with my makeup. When I was done, I checked the time; 4:30 p.m. I then walked to Enzo and Blaise's room to see what they were doing. They were sweaty, in pajamas, and completely not ready!

"Are you serious" I spat. "You guys the ball starts in less than 2 hours and you both are not even a little ready!"

"We were just about to get ready," Enzo said.

"Really?" I spat. I was dead serious. "Just get ready.. okay"

"Yeah yeah," Blaise said. "Your makeup looks good"

"Thank you," I said as I walked back into my room. I decided to read a little since I had time. Once I was done, I put on my dress. I admired myself in the mirror before I opened my hair from the hair curlers. I checked the time once again. 5:15 p.m. Okay I have time! I fixed my hair and then touched up my make-up. I walked over to the boy's room to remind them it was almost time to leave. I put on my shoes and went downstairs.

As I walked downstairs and revealed my beautiful dress to Blaise and Enzo, I felt like a princess.
