Hectors POV

I hate everything right now. I don't want to go to work. Maybe I should call in sick. No, I'm not a coward. I am not a coward.

I miserably and lethargically trudged to Waterloo Road to face another day from hell. I felt like yelling at a tree for just being there. That's how angry I was. I felt like the ocean being my tears. That's how sad I was.

I walked through the school gates and saw Barry and Gabriella laughing together. I sighed.

I knew they were back together. It was obvious.

Everyone had been asked to gather in the assembly hall for an announcement. I wasn't listening to what Christine was saying. All I could do was stare at Barry and Gabriella sitting next to each other, looking happier than ever.

Gabriella never noticed me looking at them but Barry did. He glared at me and slid his arm around Gabriella's neck.

I rested my head in my hand to draw myself away from looking in their direction.

Simon, who was sitting next to me, nudged me.

"You alright, mate?" He whispered.

"Yeah, I've just got a migraine", I lied.

Simon looked at me. Then, he looked at Barry and Gabriella. He gave me a knowing and sympathetic look then resumed watching Christine.

After the assembly, I had a free period. I decided to go to the shops for something I needed. Alcohol... That's what I do when I'm sad. I drink and I drink and I drink.

I went to the shops and purchased two large bottles of vodka.

Then, I went back to the school, the alcohol hidden in my coat.

I went to the PE storeroom and hid there. I got out the two bottles of vodka and didn't hesitate to down them. After a while, everything went dizzy and my drunk side took over me.

Gabriella's POV

Barry and I were finishing our first period as we were in the same lesson- English. We both went to the private room next to the changing rooms with the graffiti. Only to talk though. Like we both agreed, we were friends and nothing more.

All of a sudden, the door burst open to reveal Hector staggering out. His eyes were half closed and red, his face was pale and he wasn't balanced on his feet properly.

Me and Barry both stared at him in awe.

"What the actual-?" Barry squinted.

"What?" Hector snapped, his words slurred, "You don't FUCKING know anything! Congratulations! Hahahahaha!"

He suddenly had a laughing fit. Then, he randomly started crying. Half laughing, half crying. His eyes turned mental and crazy.

"I have to go now", Hector said, "I...need...more...alcohol".

"Whatever, you pathetic excuse of a human being", Barry spat.

Hector rolled his eyes and walked out, nearly falling over.

"Just don't think about him", Barry turned to me.

"Do you reckon he's okay?" I asked, biting my lip worriedly.

"No", Barry laughed cruelly, "But who cares? He deserves what's coming to him".

"Maybe I should go after him", I said nervously.

"No!" Barry said quickly, "It'll just happen again. You'll be used again, Gabriella. You'll get hurt again".

"I've got to go", I said, "This isn't about me anymore. I'm sorry. Thanks for everything".

I quickly ran out, leaving Barry on his own.

"Gabriella!" I heard Barry shout but I didn't return back.

I ran out of the school, rapidly searching for Hector. I instantly spotted him walking out of the school gates. I dashed to the gates to stop him.

"Wait", I panted.

He turned around, saw me, rolled his eyes and carried on walking away.

I grabbed his arm and automatically urged him back to the school, dragging him with me.

"Why are you doing this?" He asked, tears in his eyes.

I didn't reply. I didn't want to open up to him when he was drunk.

I took him to the PE storeroom becauseI knew it was private there. I sat him down on a bench.

"Look, stay here", I ordered him and quickly ran out.

I went to the staff room to find Mr. Lowsley by himself, drinking coffee. I didn't knowck. I simply opened the door and went in.

"Gabriella, why aren't you in lessons?" Mr. Lowsley asked.

"It's Hector", I told him, "If I tell you, will he get into trouble?"

"Oh, how many more of your secrets do I have to keep?!" Mr. Lowsley moaned, "No, he won't get into trouble. Unless he's killed someone. No, what is it?"

He took a sip of his coffee.

"Well, he's drunk. Like, a lot", I said.

Mr. Lowsley instantly did a massive coffee-spit take.

"What?!" He asked, eyes wide, "Is he teaching a lesson right now?"

"No", I replied.

"Oh, thank God", he sighed with relief, "I'll go and sort him out. Get back to your lessons".

"Can I come?" I asked, innocently.

Mr. Lowsley looked at me, his eyes squinted.

"I thought you two were over?" Mr. Lowsley asked.

"What? He said that?!" I asked, worriedly.

"No, no, no!" He quickly said, "It's just, in assembly I saw you and Barry".

"No, we are just friends", I said.

"I wish you'd have told Hector that. He looked pretty upset about it", he said.

"But he's been ignoring me! That doesn't make any sense..." I looked confused.

"Well, it's none of my business", he said, "Why are we hear talking about your love lie when there is a drunk PE teacher on the loose?!"

We both gave each other a knowing look and quickly went to the PE storeroom.

Thankfully, Hector was still there. But he was asleep on the bench.

"That's going to be a hell of a hangover tomorrow", Mr. Lowsley sympathised, "I doubt he'll make it into school".

We stayed there the rest of the day just making sure he's okay. Mr. Lowsley took Hector home at the end of the day and I couldn't sleep becauseI was worrying too much...
