It was the after noon the next day. We were doing party preparations for my birthday that's why we had to leave yesterday.
I was turning 17 and I wanted it to be big, my mom was inviting family from her side and my dads side mainly because I knew my dads side more.

And honestly I didn't have much friends at Foot hill, I didn't talk to other people outside of Owen, Angel, Ryan, Mitchel, Leo, Zayn, and Cole.
So they were obviously coming which means if my dad side is over thats about 25% of people and so is my moms side. Making both of them 50%.

We were all at the dinning table as my mom rambled about my 17th birthday which was tomorrow. As I got up to think about the other percentage of friends I had to look for.
I walked up stairs still hearing my mom go on about the party and reached my room while her words became a blur.

I flopped onto my bed staring at the ceiling, I can't believe I was too busy into Owen to even think about making connections with other people. I sighed smacking my hand onto my forehead.
Maybe I could just invite others like from the football team. Owen knows people there and maybe from the cheerleading team I mean there all so sweet and nice as long as they don't hit on Owen.

I hopped off of bed running to my desk to write the names down of the people I wanted to be there.
I wrote down.
The football team??
Cheerleaders
I don't know I just kept rambling on with my pencil. Maybe it should be an entry fee party?

Like when people pay for entry I should at least charge like five dollars.
Family included duh.
I smiled at the thought planning it all down on a piece of paper.
And in seconds the pencil broke. "Shit." I said out loud opening the drawer to my right rushing through it to find a sharpener.

It instead I found something else it was a small paper.
The exact size of my palm, I lifted it up holding it in front of me.
And it was my dad. On my third birthday he had cake on his face from me slamming his head into it. And my mom who had the biggest smile on her face she had cake all over herself from helping me.

She would never do something like that now.. never.
She's all Mrs perfect and snobby treating people less then her not the same. Don't get me wrong I love Linda to death.

But she's ruining my mom.

I want my dad there, I miss him and I need him there.
Not saying I'm going to try and break Linda and my mom up but still. I just missed him and I missed how she used to be.
Before Linda came into the picture my mom and dad let me out lay in an alley by myself.
She would NEVER let me do that now she thinks it dirty and for the poor. Which is something she'd never say when she was with my dad.
And besides that how I met my best friends scratch out Marty.

So in celebration of my dad bringing us close together he should be there.

I ran down stairs in a hurry to tell everyone what I wanted to do. They were still chatting a ramble of words until they stopped when they saw me.
I stood in front of all of them while they all stared at me waiting for me to talk. The picture was folded in my hand.
"What is it Zara." My mom finally spoke.

I took a deep breath in and out.
"Well we all know my birthday is tomorrow right." I paused waiting for them to answer
And they nodded agreeing with me
"Well first I want there to be an entry fee of five dollars. That could be a gift just in case people didn't know what to get me." I implied changing the subject

"Yah that's a good idea." My mom agreed with a smile. And she went back to her ramble to Linda and Angel.
"I'm not done." I uttered catching there attention
"I want to invite dad." I added quickly before they said anything else.

I watched as Linda eyes brows frowned at me in anger.
"No." She spoke with a stern tone in her voice.
"This isn't your birthday Linda." I replied with a calm tone in my voice.
"I said NO." She snapped at me walking out of the dinning room.

"Mom please HES my fucking dad." I pleaded at her while she threw me an un-impressed look
"Zara he is a disgrace to this family." She snarled at me standing up from her seat.
"That happened so long ago...I miss him." I begged her again while I felt my voice get squishy
"That man will never see us again!" She shouted storming up to me.

"If you invite him to the party I am taking all of my funds out of it." She growled at me pointing to my face.
I stayed speechless as a tear rolled down my eye.
"I dare you." She added

I stormed up stairs and back into my room and slammed the door as loud as I could. I jumped onto my bed digging my face into my pillow.
They need to move on it's my danm birthday, like is it a crime to miss someone so dearly on your birthday?
He was always a good dad to me. Through everything and I just wanted to see him one last time at least.
Tears poured through my eyes thinking about what my mom said to me.

I flip myself onto my back wiping the tears away. I wanted to invite him if  I didn't I would spend the whole day tomorrow not being happy.
And even though my mom was not going to be there which probably way more depressing. I missed my dad and she can't blame me for doing that.

I picked up my phone from my pockets and dialled his number.

The phone was ringing silently but loud at the same time as I could feel my heart rate move faster and faster. He probably got a knew phone because my mom smashed his.

"Hello"
He answered and as soon as I heard his voice I wanted to chuck my phone across the room. I didn't even know where to begin or say so I just stayed quiet.
"Hello???"
He spoke again a lot louder and impatient. I closed my eyes trying to slow down my breathing.

"Hi dad."

"Zara?" He answered with a hint of excitement

"Yea.."

"Holy shit Zara. I have missed you so much."
My lips quivered at his sentences at a stared down at the paper.

"I miss you too." I said in a stutter trying to stop myself from crying.

I heard a sniff through the phone. Knowing that he was crying. Which made me cry.

"I know your birthday's tomorrow." He cried

"I wanted you to be there." I let out before he could finish his words

"Really?!" He exclaimed with a sniff

"Yes." I smiled. Even though he couldn't see it.

"Yea I would love to." He boasted with joy

"Okay." I chuckled with happiness
"There's just a few things we need to do first."
