(~Your POV + Long Time Skip~)
It's been a week. The weather's been pretty bad, but I keep getting called to work anyway. I have to deal with the abuse over and over again. Little Miss Venus has made it clear that I'm her new target, which is very much unappreciated. The various bruises have started to show, it's getting harder to hide them as the number grows. On top of that, I'm trying to find another apartment before the deadline.
'I don't know how much more stress my heart can take.'
Thankfully, Madison and Atlas have stepped in, staying up a few nights to help me look for potential homes. The last thing on my agenda is that skeleton.
I've been trying to catch him to apologize for what happened earlier. However, he keeps avoiding me. Sometimes I'll find him, sitting at the corner table of the cafe like usual, but then he's gone a second later.
I woke up late this morning, it's the weekend so I don't care. I take a stroll around my neighborhood, just trying to clear my head. Everything is wet and puddles cover the ground from the relentless rain. I'm carrying a umbrella with me, the sun still won't shine through the clouds so I'm making sure I'm prepared.
I hear a new voice, "Hey, I think you're in the wrong part of town. You lost?" I stop and turn around, seeing a group of monsters following me. Something about them was off, many red flags were going off in my head. I politely answer, "No, I live right down the road. Um, thanks for the concern?"
'What do they want?'
I don't exactly live in the best part of town. Because of all the human and monster separation laws here, thanks to the new mayor, we kinda have two parts of town. One side is dominated by monsters, rarely any humans dare to live there. The other side is for humans, but monsters do live on this side anyway. All they have to do is deal with the ongoing judgment. My apartment complex is near the border, so I see a mix of both races.
'Not that all monsters are bad.. It just causes a lot of fighting between the divisions...'
The group gets closer, laughing to themselves, "She's clueless."
'Yes, I am. Please enlighten me.'
Their leader, a scaly reptile type monster, shoved me a bit, "This is our part of town, miss. If you have trouble remembering that, I can carve a reminder in your skin with my teeth." He gets closer, revealing dozens of sharp fangs. I step back but he grabs ahold of my hand with a death grip. I'm ready to scream out, but I'm interrupted when a blue bone comes out of nowhere, smacking into his head. It had barely any effect, it just made him mad. He roars out of anger, "WHO DID THAT?!"
'What the-..?'
A bunch of his guys are confused too, they look to the source. I glance over, across the road is the same skeleton I've been looking for. One of his eyes is glowing bright blue while the other socket is completely black. His hand is stretched out with a blue glow emitting from it. He's silently glaring at them, giving them a look to 'back off.'
"Boss, it's him!"
"We never beat him. Come on, let's just go."
"Ugh, it's that numbskull again."
"Party's over..."
'They know who he is? Is that a good or a bad thing?'
The leader of the group spots him, anger fueling up, "YOU AGAIN??!" The skeleton doesn't say a word, he only stands there, staring at us. He puts his hands in his pockets, his pupils going back to what I would consider normal.
'I need to run but this dude still has my arm!'
I struggle to pull away from the lizard, but that only brought the attention back to me. He throws me to the ground, "I'm not done talking to you!" Suddenly, his orange soul hovers in front of him and turns cyan blue. Next thing I knew, he screams as he flies into the air.
All his buddies scream, "RUN!" They all scatter across the road and in between the houses. The leader is screaming midair until he smacks into someone's roof. I hurriedly scoot myself back, trying to get myself up.
'This is my chance!'
I smack right into another person. I turn and guess what? It's the skeleton, again. He's looking around, I guess seeing if anybody else wants to pick a fight.
'How did he get over here so fast?! Was that his magic?'
He glances at me and then turns around. Almost perfectly timed, it starts raining. The skeleton rushes back, going back the way he came. I stand myself up, "Hey wait! I need to talk to you!" He doesn't stop, he just pulls out a small gray notebook and marker from his jacket. I rush to catch up with him, holding my umbrella over my head, "Please listen! I need to thank you!"
He takes a short deep breath and stops, turning towards me. I hold my umbrella over both of us so we won't get wet. He holds his notebook up. On the blank page were the words, "Are you okay?" I pause, "Um, yeah. I'm fine. Thank you. I guess some monsters still hold grudges, huh?"
He stares at me for a few seconds, not answering. It was awkward, just listening to the rain while staring at him.
'Did I say something wrong?'
I change the subject and look away, "Um.. About the other day.. I'm sorry for what I said if it offended you. I honestly don't care where you sit." I smile, laughing awkwardly to myself. I glance back to him, he's flipping through the pages in his notebook.
'What is he looking for? Can't he... talk?'
He stops on a certain page and holds it up. It says, "It's fine." I realize something and ask, "What's your name? I probably should've asked earlier." He smirks and flips to the first page. "This book belongs to Sans" is written on it. "Sans? Cool. My name is Y/N L/N, by the way." I feel very nervous, I never realized how quiet it could be when you don't have a voice to talk back to. Sans goes to a blank page and starts writing with his bold black marker. It didn't take him long, he holds it up for me to see and smirks, "Nice name."
(Writer~San: Just for anyone that may not understand. Anything that Sans writes is gonna appear in full bold. So he's NOT talking, that's just to clarify. *thumbs up*)
I smile, "Thanks." He closes his book and turns around, continuing to walk back.
'That's it, wow. A little rude but ok.'
Sans looks at me and tilts his head forward, quickly using a hand gesture for me to follow him.
'Oh, Never mind then.'
I walk quietly by his side, holding up my umbrella for the both of us.
'Wow.. It's really pouring down today.'
Writer~San: Following the strange skeleton that don't speak, good plan! XD See y'all in the next chapter. *blep* :P
